The Life with God Bible (formerly published as the Renovaré Spiritual Formation Bible) seeks to recover the dynamics of Scripture for the spiritual transformation of the people of God: past, present, and future. It provides a view of God’s community through history, the ups-and-downs, ins-and-outs of a with-God life. While other study Bibles serve as resources for sermon exposition, higher criticism, or personal devotion, the The Life with God Bible helps us capture the reality of living with the Trinitarian community in the ever-present kingdom of God. It recasts the Bible as the primary written resource for informing our minds and transforming our spirits in Christlikeness.
As part of making the Bible more accessible for the process of intentional formation in Christlikeness, The Life with God Bible includes:
- Major essays and graphic representations highlighting 15 expressions of the With-God Life
- Essays and notes for each book of the Bible
- 50+ character sketches giving a sense of the ways key Biblical figures lived with-God
- An index of places various spiritual disciplines appear in Scripture
Other features include:
- Does not contain Deuterocanonical books
- Two-color maps
- 7.25" x 5.00" x 1.50"

The Life with God Bible combines the depth of a study Bible with the warmth of a devotional Bible, offering a new way to discover the full riches of the Scriptures. According to Richard Foster, bestselling author and the project′s editor, the Bible is all about human life "with God." As we read Scripture, we should consider how God is with us in each story and allow ourselves to be spiritually transformed.
Many people are looking for a new way to read the Bible, not as a text to be mastered. but as a story to enter into and a lifestyle to pursue. This unique Bible, previously published as The Renovare Spiritual Formation Bible and spearheaded by bestselling authors Richard Foster (Celebration of Discipline) and Dallas Willard (The Divine Conspiracy), introduces the concept of life with God - or the "with-God life" - a model for seeing the whole of Scripture as the unfolding story of God′s plan for our loving relationship with the Creator. This central theme weaves throughout the essays, introductions, notes, and exercises, powerfully revealing how God is present to his people today and throughout history.
Yet our relationship with God should not be passive. Concrete practices - Spiritual Disciplines - have been used throughout church history to guide disciples of Jesus. This Bible integrates the Spiritual Disciplines into the Christian life by showing how they are central to the Bible′s teachings and stories. Abraham and Ruth, Moses and Deborah, Jesus and the disciples all provide amazing examples of the life-changing power of prayer, worship, fasting, celebration, and many other Spiritual Disciplines. Scripture thus becomes a primary means for the discovery, instruction, and practice of these disciplines as well as a tool for spiritual formation.
Combining the highest possible biblical scholarship with the deepest possible heart devotion, this new Bible project seeks to nourish inner transformation by unlocking and revealing the profound resources within Scripture for changing our hearts and characters and bringing them in line with what God wants for our lives. The Life with God Bible will redefine what the Bible means for Christian discipleship.

He is the founder of Renovaré, an organization and a movement committed to the renewal of the church of Jesus Christ in all its multifaceted expressions, and the editor of The Life with God Bible.

His groundbreaking books The Divine Conspiracy, The Great Omission, Knowing Christ Today, Hearing God, The Spirit of the Disciplines, Renovation of the Heart, and The Divine Conspiracy Continued forever changed the way thousands of Christians experience their faith.

Jason4 Stars Out Of 5I like this BibleJune 9, 2015JasonQuality: 3Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5This Bible is an interesting mix. It's not quite a study Bible, but it has some great articles and notes. It's not quite a devotional, but it offers a lot to think about. It's commentary is ecumenical, but it doesn't pull punches or lower the bar. At 7"x5", it is smaller than a typical reading Bible, but at 2" thick it's definitely packed full of content. The paper and print quality are good for the price, but lacks the bling of gold gilt page edges (I rather appreciate its humble appearance). The text is small, but it's still easy for me to read for long periods of time (I'm nearsighted, your usage my vary). If you are looking for a portable Bible that you can really *use* without white gloves, that is ecumenical and non-denominational, and that offers guidance on spiritual formation & suggestions on how to grow in your relationship with God, and relates those topics with brief relevant commentary at the bottom of each page of biblical text, then this Bible might be for you.

HanleyesSouth Milwaukee, WIAge: 18-24Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5A Devotional & Study Bible in One!October 17, 2011HanleyesSouth Milwaukee, WIAge: 18-24Gender: maleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This Bible is an amazing resource for study. You both get in-depth notations in the commentary as well as devotional insights. It doesn't tell you how to think, but poses questions to you to think about. It has some great character profiles that not only present facts but get into psychological aspects of the Biblical characters which is interesting. It also has some great spiritual disciplines that help you to live your life more in harmony with the Bible. The layout is great and while the Bible is small (one of its best features), it's still highly readable. This Bible has some great content and will be very helpful in your spiritual journey. The imitation leather has a rubber feel to it that holds it in place on the table. The book lays flat for the most part as well. The only problem could be that the inside flaps of the cover are paper and don't look too durable but only time will tell if they stand up to normal use or rip (which would separate the cover from the spine. Also, when it comes to the imprint, consider this Bible is DRY STAMPED on the spine and the pages are NOT gilded. Therefore the name would be the only golden thing on this Bible. I wish I'd known that before purchase but it still looks alright. But I would recommend this Bible without hesitation for in-depth study and for personal devotion.
Milton Jantzen4 Stars Out Of 5July 4, 2010Milton JantzenBought as a gift. Nice, smaller size reprint of the "With God Bible" I bought some years ago. Given to a younger person; my aging eyes would have a hard time with the smaller print!
