Wired for Ministry offers practical strategies for integrating technology and ministry while keeping a watchful eye on potential technological pitfalls. Remembering that technology is the medium and not the message, Jewell discusses specific ways that tools such as the Internet, digital video, and music can enhance youth groups, worship services, educational ministries, and evangelism.
Pastors, Christian educators, youth leaders, and Sunday school teachers will rely on this useful guide. Jewell's wise introduction to the process of bringing technology into ministry will be indispensable for Christian leaders and "lay-techies" everywhere.

Tell us a little about yourself. I have been ordained for 40 years, have served as pastor in small, medium, and large congregtions. I came to the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in 1999 to build a distance learning program and teach ministry and technology classes.
What was your motivation behind this project? The number one motivation for this and my previous work, "New Tools for a New Century," was to have texts for students that would take persons from the very beginning of understanding technology to practical application of digital tools in every phase of local church ministry.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? The essential hope behind this book was to make available a text that would help churches integrate digital technologies in their ministries. It aims to strike a balance between indiscriminate importation of technology that does not enhance ministry and the rejection of technology as a legitimate ministry tool.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I am blessed to work in a community of scholars and pastors at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary where the church is valued, the gospel embraced, and preparation of faithful, competent pastors is the chief goal.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I have a life long passion for lay ministry. This is a central part of both texts mentioned above. A part of this passion has been building a premium program for the training of lay persons to give leadership as lay persons to small congregations across the country. Seven hundred students have taken our courses. The web site for this program is: http://www.UDTSLearning.net
