I loved Winters End!!! Ruth Logan Herne is a great new author and this book is thankfully the first of a trilogy. Good combination of comedy and drama. Believable characters. Romantic development starts from the first sentence (and instant dislike). The author has a knack for seamlessly blending faith issues and the emotional subject matter uplifts and comforts. Kayla is quirky and spunky and believably flawed while Marc is a classic brooding hero. Sparks sizzle every time they are together. A very romantic read. Incredibly well written including fresh descriptions that made this book stand out for me.
Ruth Logan Herne's debut novel is a touching story of hope and healing. Hospice nurse Kayla Doherty is tender yet tough, her own heart bruised by a painful past. Facing the imminent death of his father from lung cancer, Marc DeHollander must come to terms with unpleasant truths about the mother who deserted them and its effects on what's left of his family. The story is told with a depth and grace not often found in series romance. Expect more endearing stories of love, hope, perseverance, and faith from this outstanding debut author.
I fell in love with all your characters in the book, and they became alive to me. I found myself reading it at 2 am, wondering what would happen next. I became lost in their world and did not want it to end. Logan-Herne has a great way of setting the scene and you can picture every detail. Her writing is captivating and I look forward to reading more of her works.
I was really moved by this new book. Winter's End kept my attention all the way through the story. It offered some perspectives of my mother's passing that I was unable to comprehend at the time while she lay dying of lung cancer. I thank you my sister for recapturing the challenges and love and healing that occured for all of us. God is definitely with you in your writings. I look forward to reading your next novel.
Winter's End is a heartwarming story of people facing challenging situations and finding the beauty in them. Ruth Logan Herne has developed real characters that find love in a tough circumstance. I love Kayla's spunk and quirky attributes that bring humor into Marc's life. Ms Herne brings alive the small town community Kayla and Marc live in. You not only fall in love with them, but with all of the other people in their lives. When you read, you feel like you are right there with them.Ms. Herne has a talent for bringing her characters to life. I'm going to watch for more of this new author's work.
