I received the first book in this series on my Kindle. I had never read Bonnie Leon's books previously. After reading that one I was hooked. Since then I have bought Wings of Promise and intend to buy more of her books. Kate is a bush pilot and this is the 2nd book in the series but you can read it first. There are several personal interest stories that catch you up on characters from her previous Alaskan Sky Series. There is action, danger, learning to rely on God and His word. This book is set in the 30's during the depression. The characters are warm, cozy friends. Her co-pilot is her dog Angel. I highly recommend Bonnie's books if you are looking for a good read, with love, danger, romance and the author's faith shines. Got to go, the bookstore called & the next book in the series is here. Just finished another book and ready to start her next one. Have a great read & God bless.

Kate Evans is a pilot, and not just any pilot—she's a bush pilot in Alaska in the 1930's. The pages of Wings of Promise are filled with the challenges she faces. The elements threaten, as do some of the male pilots who work for the same flying service that employs Kate.

On the emotional front, Kate's heart is also in danger. Dr. Paul Anderson agrees to be a bush doctor, and he and Kate spend time together both in the air and on the ground. But who is Paul Anderson, really? If a man refuses to discuss his background, is he hiding something sinister? This dilemma chews at Kate as she fights her attraction to the handsome physician.

Fortunately Kate has Mike Conlin in her life, a fellow pilot who understands her love of flying. As their friendship deepens, Kate feels she's found the perfect mate—until the unexpected happens.

Leon brings Alaska and its dangers to vibrant life in Wings of Promise. This story kept me awake turning pages late at night. I guarantee it will have the same effect on you.

Kate Evans' Alaskan adventures continue in the second book of Bonnie Leon's Alaskan Skies series. She faces numerous challenges with the beautiful but dangerous environment and her complex personal life. Her affection is still torn between Dr. Paul Anderson, whom she flies to remote areas, and fellow pilot Mike Conlin, a great friend.

The author allows readers to view remote areas of Alaska as they fly with Kate. Compounding troubles cause Kate to doubt her ability and place as a pilot, where death could be one flight away. Should she call it quits and escape back to her parents' apple orchard in Washington's Yakima Valley? Will she ever find the man of her dreams?

Kate's aviator skills continue to be tested as she braves hazardous weather to rescue hunters who went missing during a blizzard. In a way, this journey parallels her own life—she's lost in a swirl of emotions and desires, searching for the right direction. Will she find her way or die trying?

I enjoyed the frontier drama, vicariously experiencing something I'd never dare to do myself. Plus the historical setting (late 1930s) reminds me of my parents' growing up years, so it's fun to read stories set in that time period. Join Kate on this wild ride exploring the arctic wilderness and the longings of her heart.

I've always wanted to go to Alaska, but never thought I'd take a tour like Bonnie Leon created in Wings of Promise.

Forget IMAX. The tour with Kate brought me on a tour of the wilderness, showed me the Northern Lights, and flew me over snowy mountains in her airplane. We delivered the mail, even a litter of smelly pigs, and often brought the doctor to ill natives. We flew low over the trees searching for lost polar bear hunters, and made several treacherous landings on the ice—and I didn't even get motion sick.

People joined us along the way. Paul, the doctor she loves who breaks up the romance because he lost his first wife and thinks because Kate is a pilot, he'll lose her. Michael, her friend who loves her fiercely and wants to marry her. Lisa, who seems a perfect match for Paul. Then there's her irritable boss, and someone I hope we don't meet who is putting water in Kate's fuel tank.

This is the third book in Bonnie Leon's Alaskan series. The author is an accomplished novelist and Wings of Promise keeps you reading as you experience Alaska, danger and romance.

I wondered how the novelist was able to put us in the airplane with Kate, and go through so many intricate flying maneuvers without being a pilot herself. Turns out one of Alaska's flying champions, Gayle Ranney helped make the scenes in the book possible.

My applause to them both. I loved the journey.
