Product Description

Raised in a British-held frontier town during the American Revolution, Isabelle Renoir is not like other women around her. A free spirit, she dances in the moonlight as a praise offering to God and is more at home fearlessly taking her long rifle and knife into the woods for adventure and inspiration.

But Isabelle's latest journey may be more than even her strength can handle when a huge storm throws the raven-haired beauty off course and into the path of rugged American spy Samuel Holt. After matching wits and denying their passion for each other, they are attacked by Indians, held prisoner, and forced to watch the horrific killing of Isabelle's brother. Now together but in captivity, they must fight spiritual forces that no knife or rifle could ever conquer in order to be free.

In the British-held frontier territory during the American Revolution, free-spirited Isabelle Renoir is anything but a typically demure Colonial Lady. She loves adventure and is known to act peculiarly, even dancing at night to worship God. Fearless in her approach to life, the adventurous Isabel finds herself sidelined by a threatening storm and encountering a handsome American spy named Samuel Holt. When they are captured by Indians, they face harrowing times that will either drive them apart or bind them together. Carie’s attention to historic detail and rich characterizations make this a winner, especially for young women who enjoy reading about female characters in nontraditional roles. Recommended for CF and historical fiction collections. From the author of the award-winning Snow Angel. - Tamara Butler, trbutler@bryantstratton.edu

Isabelle Renoir's heart and soul have always beaten to a different drum, setting her apart from the other young women in the British held frontier town of Vincennes.

Passionate, charismatic and impetuous, Isabelle handles a long rifle with ease and prefers to spend her time in the nearby forest, singing and dancing her praises to God. With the flamboyancy of her French father and the grounding of her British mother's devotion and faith, Isabelle hopes she can find God's plan for her life.

Named the Glorious One by the Indian tribes, as much for his stealth and formidable fighting skills as his long blonde hair, American spy Samuel Holt's restless spirit thrives on the risks he takes for his people.

The chance meeting of these two unconventional souls brings about a deep connection that will be tested to its limits as they are seized and held captive by the Shawnee, and Sunukkuhkaua, a man intent on making Isabelle his bride.

Jamie Carie claims Wind Dancer is her most intense novel to date and she is spot on! Set against the backdrop of the impending birth of a nation and filled with fascinating historical events, Jamie showcases her talent with the written word and her innate ability to craft potent and magnetic characters that immerse the reader in their lives. Isabelle's boldness, free spirited behaviour and her ability to worship God with abandon is both confronting and joyous to read. Samuel is a true hero of the times but battles his own demons and choices from his past. Wind Dancer will sweep you away from the mundane, engage your heart, mind and spirit and leave you sighing with delight. Jamie Carie is now no longer simply an author to watch, she has proved herself as one to follow. - www.relzreviewz.blogspot.com

Wind Dancer by Jamie Carie is a sexy, but faithful historical romance. Isabelle Renoir was raised unusually in Colonial America. She knows how to fire a rifle, loves the outdoors, and refuses to conform to society's expectations of her. On a trek through the wilderness on a mission from her priest with her brother and an Indian guide, she encounters American spy Samuel Holt who uses Isabelle as cover for his reconnaissance. Sparks quickly fly between the two as they travel together, but their lives are turned upside down when they are captured by Shawnee Indians who adopt them into their tribe. Both Isabelle and Samuel's skills and their love for each other are put to the test. Carie takes all of the standard ingredients in a historical romance: fiery heroine, mysterious hero, extreme circumstances and makes them stand above the rest of the genre. Isabelle has an amazing, wild kind of faith in God that makes even the Shawnee stand up and take notice. Isabelle is a wonderful heroine; she's assertive without being aggressive, her faith is beautiful, and her strong will makes her a true woman of God. Carie left a few loose ends at the end of this book; I hope she writes a sequel with more about little Belle and Isabelle's mother Hope. - www.christysbookblog.com

That You Cannot Imagine – Isabelle Renoir! I have never read such a passionately written novel! Wind Dancer is a book with characters that leap from the pages and reach into the deepest recesses of your heart and mind! Isabelle Renoir is such a wild and rugged worshipper before her God that my own faith longed to dance before the Lord in the moonlight! I held my breathwith Samuel Holt as he crept through the forest stalking his prey! Truly, Jamie Carie has created a novel with such strong, vibrant characters that you will feel their every joy, their crushing pain, their glorious praise!

Set amid the rugged American frontier, Wind Dancer was my introduction to Jamie Carie’s work. I am still reeling from the pure satisfaction of this novel! She brought pre-Revolutionary War America and its vast frontiers to life vividly and completely. I was transported in every sense! Jamie took my heart and mind from the fierce patriotism of the new Americans to the wild savagery of the Shawnee with seamless ease! I still shudder to recall the attack in the frontier home and the running of the gauntlet!

The truest joy to me was this wonderful, vibrant true-faith of the characters – especially Hope and Isabelle – so gloriously and naturally interwoven throughout the story. Truly, God is I AM for all of us today just as He was in the hearts of those who forges our nation so many years ago! And the romance!! Dear Reader, there are scenes in this book that will leave you breathless! Wind Dancer encapsulates the best of everything a book should be!

Jamie Carie, Wind Dancer is a jewel in your crown! I will eagerly await your stories and highly recommend them as long as God gives you words to write! Wind Dancer reflects the deep love you have for the Giver of all stories, and reflects that love with wild abandon! Truly, this is a story not to be missed – to be savored and shared! - Kim Ford, WINDOW TO MY WORLD

"Wind Dancer" is an amazing story of strong-willed Isabelle Renoir and her journey in finding her true meaning in life. She is raised in a British-held frontier during the American Revolution. Change is all around her, but she doesn't know what her place is in the world. She is unlike other women who cook and sew. She enjoys using her knife, riding and shooting her long rifle (which she sleeps with too!) On a journey with her brother to retrieve books for her priest at another fort, they encounter Samuel Holt. He is a rugged American spy who shows up as their guide disappears. He leads them to safety at the fort, but you can feel the sexual passion between Isabelle and Samuel building. On the return trip home, they are attacked by Indians, held prisoner and have to watch a horrific killing. Isabelle must bring in to play her spirituality to help her get through each day in the Indian camp, until the day she can be free.

This was the first book by Jamie Carie that I have read, but it won't be the last. I was pulled in by the interesting time period of the American Revolution. I love any kind of book based in the frontier, which Ms. Carie brings vividly to life at a time the land and country was changing. Strong-willed, independent Isabelle and rugged and strong Samuel are two characters created that you can actual see having been pulled from history. The story is very spiritually based, which worried me a little that it would be 'overly' so, but it didn't distract from the story at all. From the take-over of forts by the "Americans" to the Shawnee rituals at their camps to the passion and love of Isabelle and Samuel from 2 different worlds, this book will draw you in to a period of ours lives that made our country in to the amazing place we live today.

I would highly recommend you read this book, along with the Jamie Carie's other books "The Duchess and the Dragon", "Snow Angel" and the soon to be released "Love's First Light". I should have reviews for all of these at some point in the future!!- Alison's Attic fictionblog

Just recently, I was asked to read the book Wind Dancer by Jamie Carie, and offer a review. Being an avid reader of Christian historical fiction, I was somewhat skeptical, having never read anything written by Carie. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the book grabbed my attention and kept it to the very end. The book is set in the year 1778 on the Kentucky frontier. It tells the stories of Isabelle Renoir and Samuel Holt. Isabelle is portrayed as a free spirit who bucks against the traditional role of women in that era. She is strong and brave while also being graceful and compassionate. Carie shows a spiritual side of Isabelle that is very moving to the Christian reader. Isabelle meets her match in Samuel Holt, a soldier with the “Long Knives” of Kentucky under the command of George Rogers Clark. The book tells of their journey through the wilderness, their struggle to survive an Indian capture, and ultimately their personal struggles which could pull them apart in the end. The book is a well-written blend of romance, history, and adventure … although it is somewhat predictable.

Historically, it is very accurate in recounting the details of the campaigns of George Rogers Clark and the “Long Knives” of Kentucky. Carie was very masterful at placing fictional characters right in the middle of actual historical events. If you enjoy this genre of reading, Carie’s book is well worth your time. - Kim Baggett, wife of Geoff Baggett, and an avid reader of Christian fiction

"...an exciting adventure of pre-Revolutionary America with an unconventional heroine and a troubled, but capable hero."

Can a woman who can shoot a rifle and wield a knife as well as any man ever find a mate? Samuel Holt has never met a woman like Isabelle Renoir. She can hunt, shoot, and brandish a knife better than most men, and she’s more at home in the woods than in a kitchen. From the moment he first stumbles across her in the woods with her younger brother and Indian guide, he is drawn to her. When the guide disappears, Samuel takes Isabelle and Julian on to their destination to retrieve some books for their town priest. But as they begin the return trip to Isabelle’s home town, they are savagely attacked by the Shawnee. Eventually, all three are taken captive and forced to endure unimaginable hardships. Isabelle must rely on her strong faith in God to survive this ordeal, but there are times she wonders if she will make it. When an Indian brave claims Isabelle for his wife, Samuel knows they must escape soon, or he will lose Isabelle forever.

Jamie Carie has penned an exciting adventure of pre-Revolutionary America with an unconventional heroine and a troubled, but capable hero. Isabelle’s faith in God is strong as she dances in the moonlight in worship to Him. But she soon finds her faith tested as she faces unimaginable horrors. Samuel makes a great hero. He is wrestling with his troubled past, duties to the colonial forces, and with trying to keep Isabelle from putting herself in danger with her fearlessness and her independent spirit.

For the most part, Wind Dancer is a fast-paced story with an electrifying romance and appealing hero and heroine, but the passages about the war slows the pace in places. Still, this book is engaging, more sensual than the average Christian romance, and has a unique heroine that readers will enjoy. For a fascinating colonial romance, check out Jamie Carie’s Wind Dancer. - Vickie McDonough- TitleTrakk.com

Jamie Carie has once again seamlessly woven her in-depth research into an exciting and passionate page-turner. Her heroine’s character reminds me of a wild mustang running full gallop across the mesa, incredibly beautiful and too magnificent to tame. If you like plenty of action and emotion packaged into a historical romance, then WIND DANCER fits the bill.- Reviewed by Susan Miura

I enjoyed reading this book. It surprised me with it's intensity. There were twists and turns, in the plot, I never expected. I have now read it twice and will read it again someday. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I enjoyed this book very much. It was a bit tough to get into because, (to me), it was just unbelievable as far as the romance bit went. Also, the same metaphor was used over and over again...that kind of stuff bugs me. But Isabelle held my attention with her uncanny ways so I kept reading and I wasn't disappointed in the end.

I'll admit the book was initially difficult to get into, but it got better as you progressed. An enjoyale read, but not nearly as good as Jamie Carie's The Duchess and the Dragon and Snow Angel- but to be fair they are tough acts to follow.

This book was very disappointing to me. It did not hold my interest and after reading 50 pages I put it aside. The subject matter was not interesting to me and I generally like historical novels very much.
