Warren Wiersbe was my pastor for several years and using this commentary is just like listening to him in person. He is insightful and so easily understood. I am using this commentary for my morning quiet time. I was dissapointed at the small print, but as I'm using it, I am having no problem with it. I would highly recommend it.
If I had to suggest one commentary that is anchored to the Word but geared to the times this would be the one. First, I don't agree with all of Wiersbe's conclusions (he is a dispensationalist and I am not) however, Warren is committed and constrained to the subject of the Bible even when you may disagree with some of the topics. For example, Warren asserts concerning eschatology "I have moved from being on the Lord's planning committee to focusing on being on His welcoming committee". This type of honest interaction with the text and the reader allows one to disagree charitably on a topic but be in full agreement with the subject.
Secondly, this commentary will not only inform your head but it will inflame your heart!!! This is not a book full of distilled truth but it is a book as Martyn Lloyd Jones would say is filled with "Logic On Fire"!!!!
The only setback is the print is smaller but unreadable. I wholeheartedly endorsed this book!!! Wiersbe balances getting the message right and getting the message across!!
Very easy to read. Our Bible study group has been using this book along with our Bible. We have been picking books out of the Bible and studying them, with the help of this book. Written in a way that is very easy to understand for everyone, from new followers to more advanced followers. It is also very thought provoking and relevant for todays world.
I have purchased Wiersbe study guides in the past for Bible studies. This is a wonderful resource with the complete OT in one book. I also purchased the NT in one book. A handy and economical way to have this wonderful resource. If you like Wiersbe's teaching, you can't go wrong.
