Pain, grief, hardship . . . they all trigger the age-old question "Why?" Examining the heartbreaking problem of suffering, Lotz offers keen insights from the story of Lazarus and other Gospel accounts, guiding those who grieve to the ultimate answer---the Savior who has shared our anguish. A compassionate and comforting read. 141 pages, softcover from Nelson.
Called "the best preacher in the family," by her father, Billy Graham, Anne Graham Lotz speaks around the globe with the wisdom and the authority of years spent studying Gods Word. In her latest book, Anne shares her heart and Gods teachings on the universal problem of suffering.
Drawing her characteristically keen insights from the familiar story of Lazarus in the ninth and eleventh chapters of the Gospel of John, Anne offers Jesus reassuring answers to our heartfelt cries for understanding:
- Why doesnt God care?
- Why does He let these things happen?
- Why me?
- Why doesnt God answer my prayers?
- Why didnt He protect me?
- Why doesnt He perform a miracle?
Why? helps us understand and deal with suffering while guiding us to the ultimate answer-the Savior who shares our grief and our tears.

I read this book about three years ago and knew it would touch the hearts of those who suffer loss, pain, trials, and tribulations of all kinds. I loaned a copy to my cousin when she lost her mother, then sent my copy to someone who had just suffered a miscarriage. I decided to order 3 more copies to have on hand to comfort others who will need it. Lotz always gets to the heart of the matter--to the loving Savior who knows like we never can what it means to suffer!

This book put into words what I knew to be true, but needed so desperatly to see in print where I could read them over and over. What comfort it brought to me when in a very short period of time, death took my 20 yr. old grandson and a dear friend, and my 15 yr. old granddaughter got pregnant. Illness and crisis were everywhere I turned and life was overwhelming. The book is an easy read and so worth it. I keep several on hand to give away when to those in distress and asking "why"?

This book was a huge help to me after I lost my younger brother in a tragic motorcycle accident. It helped me cope and understand the "Why" of life during a very difficult time in my life.

After just recently the passing on of my husband I desperately needed help both emotionally and spiritually and this book helped me so much and I have passed it on to some of my friends who are going through the grief just as I am.
