Powerful, unseen forces drive some Christians into adultery, fornication, incest and other sexual sins. When it happens everyone wonders how and why. This book reveals practical guidelines and understanding for everyone involved - help and hope for the believer who wants to stand in the face of overwhelming sexual compulsions, forgiveness and knowledge for one who has been hurt by leaders who have fallen, and principles of counseling for those who wish to help someone who is struggling in this area. This book offers genuine help to honest people seeking sexual wholeness.
John Loren Sandford graduated from theological seminary with an M.Div. in religion. He pastored churches for twenty-one years before founding Elijah House.
Paula Sandford was active in church music, Christian education, and public education. The authors of numerous books, John Loren and Paula are considered pioneers in the prophetic and healing movements of our day. They have been married since 1951, have six children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Debra1 Stars Out Of 5July 15, 2009DebraSanford throws around psychological terms like Freud without any data or research to back up his claims. He talks about transference, double transference, emotional defilement, etc. without any evidence or solid definitions. I would categorize it as psychobabble. He is clearly some type of Pentacostal, which might not appeal to all audiences. At one point he talks about how some women are deceived by Satan to believe that Jesus came and personally made love to them. It's a little warped. He also credits a person's background far too much. For example, he says that his son's remained virgins until their wedding because he had come from parents and grandparents who had done so. That's ridiculous. Sexual purity is a choice people make individually and has nothing to do with pedigree. Plenty of people remain "pure" who weren't taught to do so and visa versa. At another point he calls children from broken homes "orangutans" and talks about encouraging his children to hang out with children from stable homes. So kids with divorced parents are like orangutans? That's a horrible instance of name calling and slander. In any case, I would not in any way recommend this book to anyone for any reason. I'm sure there are better books out there on this topic.
