There is purpose in the pain, and it's not just to develop you into a hardier person, says Chris Tiegreen. In fact, God's reasons may be more about his character than about yours. It's all about a God whose unlimited essence, such as mercy, redemption, and forgiveness, can be known and expressed only in an imperfect world. The Bible gives many hints as to why a suffering world makes sense. This groundbreaking book helps you explore those reasons to more fully understand God's plan.

jordy5 Stars Out Of 5why a suffering world makes sense.November 10, 2014jordyThis was the first book of Chris Tiegreen's that I had read. In fact, my mother bought it for me as a gift a few months back, and it might be one of my favorite books that I have read this year, maybe in the last 5 years. On average I probably read a book every 2 weeks, so I read several books a year and this one will be revisited again. I like to take my time with books and highlight things that really hit home for me, things that I think might help me for future reference, or things that might help others that I teach in small groups or Sunday school settings. When I looked through this book after I had finished reading it, it seemed like the whole thing was painted with highlighter, one thing after another woke me up to a truth or reality that I had somehow not managed to piece together before. Suffering is such a difficult topic to cover and one of the most difficult things for Christians to understand and defend when the skeptics come calling. How could God really exist and yet all these terrible things are going on around us? In this book Chris Tiegreen has written one of the most profound yet easy to understand books on the issue of suffering. This book has been a blessing in many ways as it helped me grasp things about suffering that I could never quite seem to wrap my mind around. I don't know how this is the first review written on this book, and I see that it is $3 or something ridiculously cheap like that. I have spent too much money on books in my lifetime and very, very few have even come close to being as impactful and meaningful as this book was to me! I cannot imagine why this book is not a bestseller amongst Christian literature at this very moment! If you only have a little time each day for reading, read your bibles people! , but if you have any extra time for reading, buy this book for 3 bucks and reap the priceless rewards from it! Blessings, Jordy.
