All the responses to these questions are biblically sound, although, the response to the question "Who Made the World?" is as if it were God speaking to the children. Each of His responses are wholly reflective of God's loving nature toward His Creation.
The books are multicultural, with children of several different races included throughout the story. The text is short and simple, and a young reader (or listener) would enjoy going through these books along with an adult. Recommended age group would be 3-6 years old. Who Made the World? and What Is the Bible? would be great additions to any child's library. Emily Moore, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
Erin5 Stars Out Of 5August 31, 2009ErinSo many of the events and issues wrapped up in creation laid the foundation for our faith. Sin, salvation, God's sovereignty, the supremacy of Scripture, the value of life, submission, family, marriage, and the list goes on. In this precious book, Who Made the World? parents and children can begin a natural dialogue on these topics. I love the format of child-like questions followed by the answers from a loving God. And, at the end of the book, the verses listed offer greater opportunity to reach into Scripture and continue the relationship. This was my favorite book in the Little Blessings series so far. Maybe it's the significance of the topic, or the gentle Fatherliness that comes through so clearly in the second part of the book. Either way, my kids and I both thoroughly treasured our time spent reading this book together.
ColleenB5 Stars Out Of 5August 23, 2009ColleenBAre your children or grandchildren asking "Who made the world?", "How long did it take?" "What did God make first?". If so, the new Little Blessings book "Who Made the World" written by Kathleen Bostrom, would be a great addition to your library. This book can help young children understand the Christian answers to their questions. The story starts out with the children asking those questions. "You've asked some great questions-you sound very smart! Now open your bible. See there, at the start, are some of the answers to the questions you seek. And now, turn the page-it is God's turn to speak!" Then their questions are answered. The story is cute and very child friendly. It has rhyming text to draw the kids in and adorable illustrations. The illustrations are full of color, action and emotion. My son loved looking through the pictures and checking out all the things God made. My daughter loved the story. She was full of smiles through the whole story. I would definitly recommend this story for any young Christian children ages 2-6 yrs old. Parents can use this book as a teaching tool to help answer those questions. Each answer is supported by Scriptures found in the back of the book.
Janet Carter5 Stars Out Of 5August 15, 2009Janet CarterWho Made the World? by Kathleen Bostrom answers frequently asked questions from the minds of young children about God and how He was made? This is just one of Kathleens newest releases from the Little Blessings series. Her books are geared towards children ages 3 to 6 and are perfect read-to-me books. The illustrations are wonderful, thanks to the talented work of artist, Elena Kucharik, from Care Bears. She helps brighten the story with each heartfelt and charming illustration. If you have small children, you know that they are always asking questions. Even my three year old daughter, asked questions and had me stop to discuss each picture as I read aloud the story to her. She is inquisitive and wanted to know who is Gods wife.I believe many parents will appreciate the Bible reference section at the rear of the book. These references correlate with the rhyming story, an imaginative way tohelp children remember what is being read to them.I recommend this adorable, yet important book for those of you wanting to meet children on their level of learning about the Word of God. If you are a parent, grandparent or even a Sunday School teacher, then you may want to share the Little Blessings series with your children or students. Kathleen has written over a dozen stories with your child in mind.
Blanca Kind3 Stars Out Of 5August 6, 2009Blanca KindI purchased this entire series for my daughter. Being an educator I value good writing and illustrations; unfortunately, the illustrator and or author allow pictures to repeat themselves in the entire series. Teaching children reading and connecting pictures with words this can be incredibly frustrating, as I find that all the books have repeated pictures. This truly is a disappointing factor. Something one would never find in secular series, it is unheard of from renown authors and illustrators. I was disappointed, as I find myself having to explain to my daughter about the illustrations being repeated and saying different things. If you are planning to purchase these books limit yourself to one or two, as the others will have the same pictures, including the devotionals and Blessings Every Day. ---Teacher
