3 Stars Out Of 5

With 28 arrangements (141 pages), there is a great deal of variety here (five selections are Christmas songs, one Easter, and 19 general sacred numbers). Many of the arrangements are quite challenging; they really are fairly advanced. However, as a classically trained pianistand one who finds Dino Kartsonakis'arrangements very pianistic and satisfying, I found only three or four in this collection to be of that ilk. That's not to say the other arrangements aren't good; some are quite interesting and playable. And, depending on your particular style preferences and technical comfort zone, you may like more of these arrangements than I do. It's a good collection, but I'd like to see Volume I (they might have used up more of the best arrangements in that book. I'd also like to find other Dino collections (I only have his "Dino Stylings" collection.)
If you own Vol. 1 of the Big Black and White Book of Advanced Piano Solos, you will also want this book. Because of the variety of composers you get a wide variety of arrangement styles. Composers include Jeff Bennett, Craig Curry, Larry Dalton, David Hamilton, Jim Hammerly, Mark Hayes, Matt Hyzer, Phil Perkins, Carl Seal and Bill Wolaver. Enough said? I haven't had the book long, but long enough to have found some beautiful arrangements and can't wait to learn some more! There are songs in here for every occasion. You will definitely get your money's worth! Even though most churches have gone to contemporary styles of worship music or are "blended," the strong message of these hymns will never be outdated. I appreciate the chance to have these arrangements of the hymns I grew up with.
