Product Description

The English language is replete with popular idioms, sayings, and expressions. A surprising number of these phrases originate from the King James Version of the Bible. The words of the King James Version have become imbedded in our daily speech. Most people don't realize the numerous times they are quoting from or alluding to the Bible. Steven McCalip has complied over five hundred of these phrases in this book. Each expression is highlighted in the Scripture where it's found, and each expression's meaning (when not obvious) is discussed, along with additional biblical insights. Readers will appreciate the indexed sections that point out the biblical expressions used in motion picture and song titles. As a result of Steven McCalip's thorough research, readers will gain a newfound appreciation and respect for the Bible and its immense spiritual and cultural impact on American society and the world.
