If you have never asked this question, you someday will.
There is perhaps no greater challenge to our faith than personal suffering. For pastor Ed Underwood this challenge came in the form of chronic leukemia. Though he prayed for and believed in God's healing, as the days slipped by and his pain became unbearable, Ed's heart was broken by a simple realization: The God who could do anything was not helping him. Yet a revelation from God's Word changed his heart and life forever.
In this poignant journey from tragedy to hope, Ed takes a fresh look at the story of Lazarus and his sistersa story that explores suffering through the eyes of our Lord and His people. You'll find comfort during difficulty, be inspired to ask for the impossible, and discover a God whose heart breaks with yours.

NattyBethlehem PAAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5January 9, 2011NattyBethlehem PAAge: Over 65Gender: femaleThis book speaks to those who cannot find words for the trials they are going through and it says, "It's OK." I especially liked the commentary on John 11. This is one of my favorite passages and Ed digs deep to help us relate and understand to the story of Lazarus and his family. The prayers that are included brought me to tears -- they contain the thoughts, fears, and sorrows that I could not express and I found both great comfort and great connect with my Heavenly Father in reading them. I will refer to this book many times and suggest it to friends.
Jeanne Hendricks5 Stars Out Of 5November 28, 2008Jeanne HendricksWHEN GOD BREAKS YOUR HEART is one of the most realistic, down-in-the-mud commentaries on what life is about for the believer. Well-written and authenbticallty biblical, Dr. Underwood's first-person account of God's journey for him through Job-like suffering speaks eloqiently of God's indescribable grace.
Bonnie Leon5 Stars Out Of 5November 10, 2008Bonnie LeonI rarely use this blog to promote books. But sometimes a book comes along that must be shared.Ed Underwood's book, "When God Breaks Your Heart", is a true story of one man's broken heart and his walk through a valley where God's love is questioned and hope fades like a mist. Ed Underwood uses the story of the death and resurrection of Lazarus to tell us about a God whose love transforms lives. We all have broken places in our lives, experiences and ongoing challenges that rob us of joy and whisks away dreams. Places where fear, pain or tragedy threaten to extinguish our faith and our trust in a God of love.Ed expertly, and with spiritual insight rarely seen, intertwines his story and others along with the story of Lazarus and his sisters Mary and Martha to remind us that God is in the midst of our greatest anguish. God's love never fails. Even when we turn our back on Him he is there.Get a copy of "When God Breaks Your Heart". Ed's story is a beautiful example of God using an obedient heart to speak to others and has the power to change your life.
