When Christians Get It Wrong Revised

Product Description

A growing number of young adults today have opted out of Christianity and the church because they see condemning attitudes and actions coming from those who claim to be Christian. Outsiders are increasingly seeing Christians as people who judge others, condemn people of different faiths, reject science, mix politics and faith, as well as being people who are anti-homosexual. Adam Hamilton believes that following Jesus is much more about open doors than it is with locked gateways however. In this book, Adam will show you a different way of understanding the critical issues that are keeping people from Christianity, and help you develop strategies for being a compassionate, yet committed voice for the Gospel of Christ!

Publisher's Description

More and more young adults have opted out of Christianity and the church. The reason? Christians.

When young adults talk about the problems they have with Christianity and the church, they often name certain attitudes and behaviors they believe are practiced too often by Christians: judging others, condemning people of other faiths, rejecting science, injecting politics into faith, and being anti-homosexual. With his familiar style, Adam Hamilton tackles these issues and addresses the how’s and why’s of Christians getting it right when it comes to being Christ in the world.

Those who read When Christians Get It Wrong will gain a different way of understanding the issues that keep people away from Christianity and keep Christians from living a more compelling faith. Because, honestly, if we don’t start getting it right, we may lose an entire generation.

Review: When Christians Get it Wrong - Adam Hamilton- August 2010

Take a look around your church, are you lacking the younger generation, the ones that will take over your church when you are gone ? Teenagers especially nowadays are getting the wrong perceptions of Christ. Many think that Christians are bible-bashers, goody-two-shoes, people that do not sin and can do know wrong, however we all make mistakes.

When young adults talk about the problems they have with Christianity and the church, they often name certain attitudes and behaviors they believe are practiced too often by Christians: judging others, condemning people of other faiths, rejecting science, injecting politics into faith, and being anti-homosexual. With his familiar style, Adam Hamilton tackles these issues and addresses the how's and why's of Christians getting it right when it comes to being Christ in the world.

When Christians get it wrong touches base on issues from religions , science, evolution, teen pregnancies and homosexuality , each chapter contains a testimony from a young person to the young adults , throughout the book there are also references to bible stories and parables of Jesus's and how they relate to the issues and a favourite of mine is on every single or every second page , their is a God-Fact which relates to Christianity nowadays.

When Christians Get It Wrong can also be used as a Bible Study/ Small Group as it comes with a participant's guide and a DVD to watch.

This is a book that I guarantee every teenager whether you are a christian and know god and have a firm relationship with him or if you are new to the church and want to know god better.

In his book When Christians Get It Wrong, Adam Hamilton takes a look at perceptions and actions that chase people away from organized religion. There are some parts of this book that I agreed with. I nodded my head, recognizing the error. Or I saw it for the first time in myself, and bowed my head in shame. But there are other parts that made me raise an eyebrow. Parts that had me thinking, "Is that really scriptural?" Notice, I'm not telling you which parts are which. That's up to you to decide for yourself.

I think it's natural that a book meant to point out error can cause controversy. Most people who read this book won't agree with everything in it. But it definitely provides a great starting point for some lively conversations about theology, doctrine, and (most importantly) the love of God. Read it for yourself and make your own conclusion... are you getting it wrong?

NOTE: I received an electronic copy of this book from the publisher for review purposes.
