Product Description

This remarkably perceptive analysis of social and moral issues by the noted British novelist and critic is as relevant today as it was in the author's era. Chesterton's style is light and humorous---but also deadly serious and philosophical---as he provides witty commentary on feminism, education, family, and other timeless topics.

Publisher's Description

In the aptly titled treatise What's Wrong With the World, one of the twentieth century's most memorable and prolific writers takes on education, government, big business, feminism, and a host of other topics. A steadfast champion of the working man, family, and faith, Chesterton eloquently opposed materialism, snobbery, hypocrisy, and any adversary of freedom and simplicity in modern society.
Culled from the thousands of essays he contributed to newspapers and periodicals over his lifetime, the critical works collected for this edition pulse with the author's unique brand of clever commentary. As readable and rewarding today as when they were written over a century ago, these pieces offer Chesterton's unparalleled analysis of contemporary ideals, his incisive critique of modern efficiency, and his humorous but heartfelt defense of the common man against trendsetting social assaults.

Author Bio

Widely known as the "Prince of Paradox," G. K. Chesterton was one of the most influential English writers and thinkers of the 20th century. Chesterton's prodigious talents embraced a wide range of subjects, from philosophy and religion to detective fiction and fantasy. And while his writings are light and whimsical, they are filled with direct and honest truths.

This can easily be a timeless treasure of how a Christian can be the true follower of logic and reason. Christians who understand the sin nature of man, can actually be seen as prophetic as they look at current social and moral trends and verbalize the natural outcome if trends continue. Most of what G.K. Chesterton commented on in the areas of social, political, and religious life, has been proven and come to pass over the decades following his writings. His keen insight and wisdom was the major influence in C.S. Lewis becoming a Christian. This book gives the reader a glimpse into the mind of this Christian apologist.
