Product ReviewsProduct Q&AOther Customers Also PurchasedAuthor/Artist ReviewAuthor: Bonnie Compton Hanson
Located in: Santa Ana, CA Submitted: July 14, 2007 Tell us a little about yourself. First off, I am this book's author (PS: The author's name is missing on the book's site!). This is the latest of my popular girls series. I'm also author of 25 other books for children and adults (including an award winner), plus hundreds of published poems, songs, puzzles, and articles (24 in Chicken Soup books). I'm a pastor's wife, mother of three, grandmother of four. I've been a missionary, teacher, communications director for an investment firm, farmer, waitress, factory worker, encyclopedia salesperson, and much more. Now I spend a lot of time speaking to MOPS groups and mentoring other writers. I also speak at writer's conferences. Besides a B.A. in art, I have earned a Masters in Ministry in Christian communication. And I love kids! What was your motivation behind this project? I've received so many dear fan letters from readers, I wanted to encourage other girls to be inspired by this latest Ponytails book. I made my decision for Christ when I was 10, and I want to encourage my readers to take His claims seriously and ask Him into their hearts--and find love, hope, peace, guidance, and power to live the right kind of life. And to know that God never puts them down for being girls. He made them and is proud of them! What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Besides genuine page-turning entertainment, I hope that the thousands of Ponytail Girls fans will continue to see that being a Christian is not a downer, but a joy, with fun, adventures, and challenges. And to see that God loves all girls, no matter their race or background. Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? The young girls I know and meet, especially at our church, at the local school where I volunteer, and my own granddaughter. And of course I was once that age too! Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Here's a brief synopsis: When Sam, LaToya, and the other Ponytail Girls learn about their city's new talent contest, they can hardly wait to enter. Basketball, music, science, gymnastics- -they're sure they'll win lots of prizes! Then a new girl moves in with a sick mother and father overseas. Their beloved Sunday school teacher loses her job. More problems come--including a storm that floods out their friends at a nearby farm. But finally it's time for the contest. They do their best--then comes a surprise! The latest adventures of these popular multicultural tween girls, also featuring puzzles, recipes, games, art projects, Bible stories, and more! Find Related Products |
