Tell us a little about yourself. Born in Los Angeles, attended church literally since birth. Never attempted to read the Bible in any meaningful depth until age 28. And I was very surprised by what I learned.
What was your motivation behind this project? I wanted to have a deeper understanding of my faith, and to help other people do so.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Why do you believe as you believe? I hope that my readers will feel motivated to educate themselves in the doctrines and practices of the faith that they profess.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I am greatly inspired by Josh McDowell, who explains the Christian evidences in a simple and straightforward manner. And Bruce Shelley, an easy to read historian.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Practically all of us believe in the Bible as the authoritative source of doctrine; but instead of reading it for ourselves, we often defer to church creeds and traditions or family custom. The hazards of instant conversion, and the origin of the Altar Call. In many churches, only about one-half of all members attend on any given Sunday, so how are we supposed to be a witness to the unsaved outside world? We may become more materially prosperous each year, but you'd never know it by watching what we drop into the collection plate.
