Tell us a little about yourself. I'm a displaced Southerner and former teacher who's now writing about the secrets women keep and why they keep them.
What was your motivation behind this project? A lovely woman told me her story of racism and segregation and I combined it with my experiences of growing up in 1960s Louisiana. As in my first book, An Irishwoman's Tale, I strive to epitomize Romans 8:28 through my work.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? A better understanding of racial conditions both in the Midwest and in the South, because then true healing and growth can begin. The scary reality that many young women STILL don't report sexual assaults to their parents or responsible guardians.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Several talented women were willing to share their editing skills and contribute their personal narratives to this work. It truly takes a village to write a book! Thanks, Coreatha, Anita, and Chris!
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Lynn Austin, Randy Alcorn, Tosca Lee, Julie Lessman, Maureen Lang, Francine Rivers, Lisa Samson, Jan Karon, Camy Tang, Charles Martin, Tina Forkner...oh, it goes on and on!!
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I love to span seas and secrets to discover that new story! Don't tell me anything you don't want to see captured on paper!
