This book felt like 2 books in 1. Which was a nice surprise. The first section of the book is a fantastic introduction discussing habits, contentment, among other stories that were easy to identify with. The back half of the book is essentially a 40 day journey complete with a bible verse, short story or devotional-like section, followed by prayer and space for a guided journalling of those prayers or the talking points for the day. This was a great read for me at a point in life where I am trying to be more intentional with time, resources, while pursuing God in a manner that would allow him to change me as necessary.Available now at your favourite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.
Wonderfully well written and filled with biblical direction. This is a great read for anyone. No one knows what tomorrow brings - but I am certain each of us have had that terrible trial, that one storm that has caught us unaware. There in the midst of the storm God shows up - in all his glory and power. This book reminds you of just that. Danna Demetre has set out scripture as a guide for life when life falls apart around you. This book would be a great encouragement for those in this time of uncertainty.Thank you Revel for this review copy!
I have historically had difficulty "accepting life on life's terms" and when I began to read this book, I was looking for help in this area. I definitely found inspiration in these pages as the author shares her perpsectives as well as the stories of those whose circumstances were very hard and how they got through, with God's help. A very good read.
I have always liked books like this one. I appreciate different perspectives from different writers living a better life with meaning. I especially like these books when they have room for journaling and questions for readers to reflect on. In this book, the author has a lot of information, wisdom, personal experiences, and experiences of other women before she gets to the forty daily readings which sets the reader up to better absorb and reflect on each daily devotional. I prefer that to just jumping right in to the daily readings, perhaps because of the authors writing style. Danna writes in a way that is very soothing and comforting, but also in a conversational way that makes this book easy to read. There are a lot of books like this to choose from and this is one I would recommend. It never feels preachy, but at the same time it is rich in Biblical wisdom and advice. The author has worked hard to create a book that is both helpful and comforting. The daily devotionals are short, but they have a strong impact. Each has a prayer and room to write your thoughts. Its a must read for the woman who needs to live a more Biblical life.
