Maria5 Stars Out Of 5Lighthearted romancesSeptember 16, 2014MariaFour Weddings and A Kiss is a set of four novellas written by Margaret Brownley, Robin Lee Hatcher, Mary Connealy, and Debra Clopton. It's a Western collection, and each story is "told" by a different preacher. All of them were well done and interesting. I love collections like this because on the days when you really want to read, but you don't have a lot of time, you can read a story in one sitting.
"Spitfire Sweetheart" by Mary Connealy was my favorite. It was pretty funny. Maizy MacGregor's mother died when she was really young so she's only had her dad to raise her. She grew up learning how to be a cowgirl instead of a lady. Rylan Carstens was distracted by Maizy so he forbid her to go on his land, but Maizy goes anyway which ends up causing all sorts of trouble to ensue.
"Love Letter to the Editor" by Robin Lee Hatcher was my second favorite story. Molly Everton has helped out at her father's newspaper for years and has always expected to become the next editor. But then her father hires a stranger to do her job! Determined to get Jack Ludgrove to quit, Molly tries everything she can think of to dissuade him from this job.
"A Cowboy for Katie" by Debra Clopton is about "crazy" Katie Pearl. She survived a tornado, but being alone under the house for three days has made her afraid of people and the dark. When she finds a cowboy looking for a work, she is desperate enough to hire him. Treb Rayburn gets past her prickly nature to find the real woman beneath the fear.
"Courting Trouble" by Margaret Brownley is about lawyer, Brock Daniels, who left back East after a troubling case. Now he only does things like wills. But when a twelve year old boy comes begging him to help defend his mother, Grace Davenport, from a murder charge, he reluctantly agrees to talk to her. Once he hears her story he is compelled to take her case.
These are fun, lighthearted, historical romances with in depth characters and interesting storylines. Order it today! You won't regret it. :-)

Digging4PearlsShippensburg, PAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great Summer ReadJuly 3, 2014Digging4PearlsShippensburg, PAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Spitfire Sweetheart by Mary Connealy tells the tale of feisty Maizy MacGregor who has no desire to be told what to do, and certainly not by Rylan Carstens. Just because he told her to stay off his property doesn't mean she hadn't any intention on obeying him. But when her foolish deeds put the man in jeopardy, she feels she must somehow make restitution.
A Love Letter to the Editor by Robin Lee Hatcher weaves the story of Molly Everton who is infuriated to learn her father has hired someone to take over as the new editor for her town's newspaper, especially when she clearly is qualified to take the position herself. She immediately begins plotting on how to encourage Jack Ludgrove to move elsewhere.
A Cowboy for Katie by Debra Clopton is a delightful adventure of Katie Pearl who needs someone to help restore her ranch after its demolition by a tornado, so she hires Treb Rayburn. He only agrees to come to her aid because he'll get a horse out of the deal. Katie is one odd character that soon becomes endeared to the reader.
Courting Trouble by Margaret Bronwley shares the story of Grace Davenport who is in jail for the murder of her late husband. After her son's plea, attorney Brock Daniels agrees to represent her case. What will he do if the journey finds her guilty?
What a delight to read another group of stories from these four talented ladies. Prepare to be swept back in history to the era of the Old West. You won't be disappointed.

KateAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5A fun western collection!July 1, 2014KateAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I'm a sucker for a good western story. I love them! I mean really, how can you beat a story with some fantastic cowboys. In my mind you can't. And with Four Weddings and a Kiss, you don't just get one handsome, hero cowboy, but four.
I enjoyed how this story started off, it brought the stories together well and offered a fun prologue to tie them up nicely for you, since each story is set in a different location, there was a fun connecting factor.
Since this is a book of novellas, I don't want to give too much away since the stories are short, but I will say that each story was set up well and offered a unique place for each story. None of the stories were rushed and each offered an interesting back story to bring the couples in the stories together.
This book really is fun, light book for summer. It offers adventure, some mystery, and sweet romances with a dash of comedy. I've enjoyed books by several of the authors, and introduced to a new one through this collection. I look forward to discovering more of her stories.
If you love these authors, they don't disappoint.

bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Encouragement for mismatched couplesJune 30, 2014bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5As this collection of novellas opens, a bunch of cowboy pastors are sitting around a campfire relaxing after revival meetings. A young one voices his concern. He loves a woman, and she loves him, but they are just so unsuited for each other! The other pastors laugh. They'd seen some greatly mismatched couples who had hitched and lived happily ever after. To encourage the young pastor, four of the others tell stories of some of the most unlikely romances one could imagine.
Mary Connealy creates the story of Maizy, a rough and tumble woman who doesn't like dresses or fixing up her hair. Britches are just fine as she helps her pa with ranching. That is until the handsome Rylan buys the ranch next to theirs. When Maizy is at the wrong place at the wrong time, she puts Rylan's life in danger. While Rylan heals from his injuries, Maizy's pa thinks it is a good idea for her to care for the invalid - dressed like a woman is supposed to.
Robin Lee Hatcher gives us the story of Molly, columnist for her father's newspaper in the Wyoming Territory. Her father hires a new editor for the job Molly thought she'd get. When the handsome Jack arrives, sparks fly. She knows that right now it is a man's world, but it won't always be that way. She's bound and determined to show Jack what a woman can do.
Debra Clopton invites us to the world Katie Pearl, a tough Texas rancher who recently lost her pa and their house when a twister went through. Some think she's not quite right in the head after being buried by debris for several days. She's determined to rebuild, all the while fending off the suitors who want her property - at gun point. When a stranger hits town, he promises her he's not the marrying kind so she hires him on the spot. Treb finds out he has quite a challenge before him.
Margaret Brownley takes us to Colorado where Brock, a fancy lawyer from Philadelphia, agrees to defend a woman accused of killing her third husband. (Her first two died under suspicious circumstances too.) Before the end of the first day of trial, Brock realizes he is no match for the kind of law practiced in the wild west. Nor is he a match for the woman who has captured his heart.
You'll enjoy these stories just like that young pastor did. You'll find that God sometimes puts the most unlikely people together - just the way He wants to. The stories are short so the romances go fast but they sure are fun. The authors have done a good job of developing characters, even in these short works. The stories are encouragement to those finding they march to a different drummer. I really enjoyed the collection.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book through a publicity group for the purpose of an independent and honest review.
