I had put off buying this book because of the cost. It is worth every cent, I have used it for many definitions since purchase and this has helped greatly. I use the NIV version of the Bible, but it still is a good help for our English language. Getting back to the basis of our grammar and usage of word are excellent.
I have been so thrilled with this dictionary. Not only is it a thorough dictionary but it includes sentences from great literature and from the Bible. Some of the definitions are, of course, historical rather than contemporary for example: Awful - "1. That strikes with awe; that fills with profound reverence; as the awful majesty of Jehovah." But includes an explanation of more common usage; "Our common people use this word in the sense of frightful, ugly, detestable" as well as a reference to how Shakespeare used the word. It is a wonderful tool for word study and a great accompaniment to a classical education.
If one wishes to understand the actual meanings of the old KJV English, this book is a necessary first stop along the way. Greatly aids in adding a new dimension of understanding implied through the deeply description and intense definitions of old English. This book leaves no room for the liberal, politically correct interpretations of present day Christianity in America!
