Product Description

Noah Webster's 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language was produced during the years when the American home, church and school were established upon a Biblical and patriotic basis. Webster made important contributions to an American educational system which kept the nation on a Christian Constitutional course for many years.

It is not surprising, therefore, that the 1828 American Dictionary should contain the greatest number of Biblical definitions given in any reference volume. Webster considered "education useless without the Bible" and while he cautioned against too extensive use of the Bible in schools as "tending to irreverence," he reiterated, "In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government, ought to be instructed... No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people..."

The 1828 is the perfect dictionary for those who are researching history and the bible, for you will have a much better definition of the words you search as it more accurately defines the words. I highly reccomend this dictionary. Look up love in a modern dictionary and the 1828 you will be surprised.

The best dictionary by far.Original definitions to english words used in the 1611 KJV Bible NEVER change.People can try and change a definition of a particular word to fit todays world, but once its been established as Daniel Webster did,it's a done deal!

I bought a copy of this book 20 years ago. It is my husband's favorite book. It inspired us to have our pictures taken outside Noah Webster's house in Greenfield Village in Michigan!! Now our daughter is getting married and this is what she asked for as a wedding present from her parents. It truly is one of the foundations of Christian America!

No book sellers in Portland, Oregon had the 1828 Noah Webster Dictionary in stock and available. I was very hppy to find that you folks had it available and for a good price. Furthermore, I think every Public School and every Christian School and every College and University in America ought to have this volume in their libraries. After all, it is what was used in the foundation of this great nation, that is now fighting against the LORD God and Christianity. Thank you! - Pastor Barry A. King
