Ravi Zacharias is President and Founder of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM). Their global outreach grew from humble roots in 1984 and includes fielding a team of itinerant speakers who operate from offices located around the world including the U.S., the UK, Romania, the Middle East, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Canada. The Hallmark of Ravis heart is his strong evangelistic and apologetic that manifests itself from a position of compassion.
Zacharias explains that it is often difficult to discern Gods presence in trying times, but even those periods are woven into the intricate design He is creating in each Christians life. The end result will be a beautiful, one-of-a-kind tapestry specially created by the Master designer. Zacharias maintains that theme as he demonstrates that God is concerned about such things as His followers jobs, disappointments, worship, morality, and destinies. They are all tied together in the grand design, and every thread adds to the overall splendor.
Zacharias craftily reinforces his thoughts with interesting personal stories and biblical examples. His style moves the reader along effortlessly as he sufficiently covers each topic without belaboring his points or sounding preachy.
He includes an appendix containing 25 key questions, such as, How can I see Gods pattern in my life unfold, even when I am in pain? and How can I begin to discipline my will? The question and answer format allows Zacharias to directly and succinctly address concerns his readers may have been thinking about as they read the book, and nicely drives home the main concepts. Zacharias does a masterful job of unraveling the mysteries of the Grand Weavers loving design for the lives of His children. Jeff Friend, Christian Book Previews.com

For the sake of brevity only the conclusion is included here:
The Grand Weaver: How God Shapes Us Through the Events of Our Lives is a fantastic and uplifting book. It has much value for the apologist as it addresses the emotional problem of evil head-on. Dr. Zacharias does not just address the issue from a disconnected distance, he brings the reader into his own life and demonstrates his points from his own experiences. The book is not written at an academic level that is beyond what the lay person can understand, but it does challenge them as it brings them comfort. The book flows very smoothly and is easy to read, yet difficult to put down.
The apologist should have several copies of this book in their library- one for their own consumption (in their personal life and in their defense of Christianity) and the others to give to those who are struggling with painful events in life- whether believer or not. For the believer, Zacharias provides a biblical perspective that may not be immediately clear to those experiencing pain. For the skeptic, Zacharias explains how Christianity brings meaning and life to their pain and suffering.
Finally, this book is highly recommended for pastors. Pastors, in their roles as teachers and counselors (especially), are depended upon to help people struggle through and overcome difficulties in their lives- people are not just searching for solutions to the painful events but purpose for those painful events. In The Grand Weaver, Zacharias brings to light much that scripture has to say about God's sovereignty and purpose for what happens in our lives- both good and bad. Not only can this help a person triumph through the crisis, but also stand against doubts about the goodness or existence of God from personal life experiences.
Sufficient in JesusAge: 18-24Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5This man's writing and reasoning are superb.March 11, 2013Sufficient in JesusAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Dr. Ravi Zacharias' ministry is new to myself and my family. We are now reading his Grand Weaver. This man's voice and reasoning and writing are superb.
The Grand Weaver begins with a question that makes my heart leap just thinking about it. "Would anyone deny that they would really like to see some periodic 'visitation' from God?....And who among us would not like to know His plan?"
Ravi carefully examines the evidence and outlines his words with Scripture and where exactly things are substantiated in the Bible.
God wants us to succeed but along the way in this world there will be failure. There is a plan, there is a Weaver. This book wants us to search for the Weaver with all our hearts, for this life is not of our own doing. Think of your own birth, certainly not a date and time of your own choosing.
Dr. Zacharias is a man whose humility and graciousness have reminded us that apologetics is a matter of the heart as well as of the mind.
Dr. Zacharias writes with reverence about his Savior and Holy Scripture. He writes with kindness toward his fellow humans. He writes with strength about what Scripture says and what it means to us. Both gentle humor and keen wit come into this book in the proper places, the humor always teaching us something.
If you have never read anything from Dr. Zacharias, you should. I was very blessed to receive The Grand Weaver from Zondervan to review. I am pleased to have a copy of the Grand Weaver on my family's book shelf.
