Written by a veteran homeschooling mother of three, and built on the solid foundation of God's Word, each installment of the Weaver unit study curriculum is filled with everything you need to teach your children at home. The same daily Bible theme is used as a foundation, around which lessons are created for each student-allowing multiple students to study the same main subject at the same time with assignments geared to their grade level.
Volume 2 chronologically covers Exodus and the Books of the Law, and within this study, students will view the freedom of God's people and the beginning of the founding of a nation, as well as the covenant that God had with Israel. Into this foundation, studies on specific plant life of the desert and rain forests, river and fresh water systems, and American history 1650-1790 are integrated.
You'll find comprehensive, age-appropriate lesson plans for a full year of instruction in Bible, Social Studies, Science, Geography and History, Language Arts, Health, and Art (plus memory verses which may be used for penmanship). The program is designed so that any of the five volumes can be used for any number of students. The Weaver Curriculum is divided by Volumes and Supplemental Volumes. Volumes 1 through 5 (each sold-separately) are for grades K-6, and Supplemental Volumes 1 through 5 (each sold-separately) are designed for grades 7-12.
Pages are color-coded, and organized first by chapter, and then by grade. So for example, for chapter one, pink pages provide all the instruction for all Chapter 1 subjects to a student in 2nd Grade. The next set of pages is blue and provides instruction in all Chapter 1 subjects for Grade 3. Lessons are about a paragraph-to-a-page in length and feature an objective followed by an activity. Chapter 10 features 50 Bible lessons designed for multi-level teaching. It should take about one year to complete each volume. A scope and sequence, organized by unit, lays out the number of days, Bible references, and topics covered in each subject.
Scripture is from the NASB. 206 loose-leaf pages, with three-ring-binder included.
Please Note: Math, Grammar and Phonics are not included in this curriculum.
Some sold-separately resources are available to help with this program: The Day by Day planner tells you what to teach, when to teach it, and what you need to teach it. The Wisdom Words curriculum is an application method of teaching Grammar and Composition. The Weaver Teaching Tips and Techniques book provides information on how to teach each subject, with ideas and lists used in teaching. Resource books are optional, but are referred to throughout the program.

JC4 Stars Out Of 5May 22, 2007JCWe used the Weaver with our oldest two children in their 1st grade and kindergarten year. We then left it for what was qualified as a "higher" curriculum. I wish now we had never done so. They remember what they learned in Weaver more than what they learned in any other curriculum. We now have 6 children and will be going back to The Weaver this year.
Tammy Nixon5 Stars Out Of 5March 12, 2002Tammy NixonI have a 17-year-old daughter and we used the Weaver Vol.1 during her 1st grade year. It was the best year we ever had in our home school experience. I had started her in a program that was textbooks and workbooks in Kindergarten and we were burned out halfway through the year. The next year we used the Weaver, because I knew that there had to be more to home school than getting burned out in kindergarten. That year was the best year we have ever had, unfortunately I decided to do my own thing which was ok, but I wish now that I had stayed with the Weaver and now I have a 5 and 3 year old and I am using Interlock and am planning on going on to use the weaver for all of their schooling and for my 1 year old too. I always remember her 1st grade year as our best year and she often comments on that too. I highly recommend The Weaver, to anyone looking to home school in a way that they can look back on with good memories for years to come.
