Winner of the 2002 Christianity Today Book Award! Youre One Step Away from the Adventure of Your Life. Deep within you lies the same faith and longing that sent Peter walking across the wind-swept Sea of Galilee toward Jesus. In what ways is the Lord telling you, as he did Peter, "Come"? John Ortberg invites you to consider the incredible potential that awaits you outside your comfort zone. Out on the risky waters of faith, Jesus is waiting to meet you in ways that will change you forever, deepening your character and your trust in God. The experience is terrifying. Its thrilling beyond belief. Its everything youd expect of someone worthy to be called Lord. The choice is yours to know him as only a water-walker can, aligning yourself with Gods purpose for your life in the process. Theres just one requirement: If You Want to Walk on Water, Youve Got to Get Out of the Boat.
John Ortberg is the senior pastor of Menlo Park Presbyterian Church (MPPC) in the San Francisco Bay Area. His bestselling books include Soul Keeping, Who Is This Man?, and If You Want to Walk on Water, Youve Got to Get out of the Boat. John teaches around the world at conferences and churches, writes articles for Christianity Today and Leadership Journal, and is on the board of the Dallas Willard Center and Fuller Seminary. He has preached sermons on Abraham Lincoln, The LEGO Movie, and The Gospel According to Les Miserables. John and his wife Nancy enjoy spending time with their three adult children, dog Baxter, and surfing the Pacific. JHappy5 Stars Out Of 5If You Want To Walk On Water You've Got To Get Out Of The BOATJanuary 31, 2015JHappyThis book is awesome. There are so many things in life that holds us back from expressing our faith. This book provided helpful guidance to strengthen my faith. Time to get out of the many boats that we think provide "security".
LBoucherCortland, OHAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Walk on Water with JesusJanuary 9, 2015LBoucherCortland, OHAge: 55-65Gender: femaleAwesome book. First read it on my Kindle, and before I was done, I ordered several 'real' books- one for me, and 5 more for gifts to friends. I know I will be referring to that book often! So much practical application and examples of walking with the Lord and His messages to us in His Word, the Bible.
I've already started another John Ortberg book, and have more of his titles on my 'to read' list.

I read this many years ago, the hardback and gave it away, then would buy another copy to keep the cycle ongoing to guys that came into my path who were searching and trying to understand some of God's ways of teaching. Why am I going through this? What does this mean? What am I suppose to understand with these principles? This book exceeds in its own way of delivering "a way to grow" in Christ, thus for a Christian - "how to grow in my life path?"
You will not be disappointed with this read and study, especially when making a life application!
The Good Book says we're to yell upon the housetops, those things that Christ does for us, here I am yelling to you.
Read & Praxis the principles of this book. When we can learn through others experiences and growing instructions, then this is the wisdom of God that comes into our lives. The only bad thing here, is you have to purchase the wisdom.
