Kim Vogel Sawyer often writes Amish romance novels, and personally I'm a bit over the Amish thing, but I did really enjoy this non-Amish story. Summer Steadman has suffered incredible tragedy when she finds herself in the middle of a closed and fearful Mennonite community. Thankfully she is taken in by Peter Ollenburger, a gentle giant of a man who needs a tutor for his son, Thomas. I fell in love with this kind and honorable man and his cheeky, generous son long before Summer did, mostly because he was so consistent in showing her that God and a close relationship with Him were the only answers to her many needs. It was beautifully written, with a very sensitive portrayal of grief and the gradual healing brought about by the faithful love of God, the needful love of a little boy and finally the love of an honorable man. Well worth reading.
This book had me gripped right from the start and I enjoyed every moment of it. It had the ability to take me right into the story. Another book that lets you know about our wonderful God and Father. Fantastic book. Will be looking for more of hers.
