Excellent companion to Strongs or other Hebrew/Greek lexiconic dictionary. Vine's really helps the reader understand the context in the various passages

This work certainly provides a solid base of information for professional and lay teacher alike, or self-study. Much has been said in other reviews, and I will only say that it is easier to use than larger, otherwise more detailed, and even more accurate (by detail) lexicons. But I have found use of this book, with even just Strong's lexicon, to be more than sufficient to teach accurately.
That being said, the only, but good, reason I give 4 stars is that the work does not always remain scholarly, that is, not always as objective as it could. Subjective interpretive information creeps in that is unnecessary to the study of the words, and the impression may be made that the subjective interpretation is as true as the word-study information (the interpretations are presented with this force of confidence, whether or not intended). And these subjective ideas occur, not surprisingly, within the context of the most controversial "ology" of the Bible: eschatology (of which I am aware of 16 major and secondary major views). Vine's should have left this repeated subjective interpretations out and kept the work scholarly. I thought it was a word study book, not a commentary; but one buys a subjective commentary to some extent too.
