Robin Jones Gunn reveals poignant truths from her life as well as from the lives of women in the Bible as she flips the notion that we are at the mercy of circumstances. She asks, what if God has dreams for you? What if he is accomplishing those dreams in the midst of shattered hopes?
When life doesnt go as expected, its easy to feel like a victim. We look at the events that have gone wrong and view our lives as impaired. What if we could see our future as God sees it? Would our view radically change if we understood we are indeed victims rather than of happenstance?
God, the Relentless Lover, has vigorously sought you. He has instilled dreams in your heart that are grander than you can imagine. But the route to their fulfillment often is through a path you wouldn't seek.
What if God wants to take the hopes that tug at your heart and enliven them? Are you ready to live inside the mysterious joy of being a victim of grace?
Over the past 25 years Robin has written 82 books with almost 4.5 million copies sold worldwide. To her great delight, Robins books are doing exactly what she always hoped to do they are traveling around the world and telling people about Gods love. She is doing the same. Over the past ten years Robin has been invited to speak at events around the US and Canada as well as in South America, Africa, Europe and Australia. Robin and her husband have two grown children and have been married for 35 years. They live in Hawaii where she continues to write and speak.
Miriam Jacob5 Stars Out Of 5"Victim of Grace" by Robin Jones GunnSeptember 30, 2013Miriam JacobQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5In "Victim of Grace" Robin Jones Gunn candidly opens up her heart as she deftly interweaves the experiences of her life with scenes from biblical characters to tell a most compelling tale of God's amazing grace and goodness. When we are caught up in the dire and distressing circumstances of life, we are actually victims of God's grace and not victims of life's stormy vicissitudes.
Robin's well-crafted stories unlock hidden places in our hearts and renews our souls in a fresh new way as she vividly portrays the dark valleys she has stumbled through to come out victoriously on the mountaintops of life. God's extravagant kindness and love is not limited to the Bible. He wants to anoint us as victims of grace.
Here is the profound wisdom and amazing insight of a godly woman who walks intimately with her Lord. In a book that is clearly God-haunted, her unflinching and hopeful life story is filled with poignant heartache and rare beauty, honestly recounted on the pages of her life. It makes us want to "know Jesus more clearly, love Him more dearly and follow him more nearly, day by day."
In every moment of each new day, Robin experiences the love of God fall afresh upon her in the most unexpected ways. His love flows in extraordinary abundance and she is totally powerless to stop Him. Even in the worst of situations, His goodness prevails. God is a relentless Lover and she is a victim of grace. "It's all grace. Grace upon grace. God's extravagant grace."
God's ways are mysterious, his timing is not ours, and He accomplishes His glorious plans in our lives, even when our circumstances are far from perfect, and in spite of the difficult situations in our lives. We are not alone, even when it is painful. God is with us and He walks with us through our pain.
Robin explains that when God recorded the lives of people in the Bible, He didn't airbrush them and make them surreal. He showed them exactly as they were - real, flawed and human. God loved them deeply. He fashioned them by His own hand and knew each one of them by heart.
As the afternoon rain fell in misty drops, Robin watched the fluid grace gently cover, nourish, cleanse and restore everything in sight. Her thoughts ran deep. God gives and gives and gives. His generosity is unending and endless. God bestows His unmerited grace and favor upon ordinary people.
Robin gathered her free-fall stories and strung them together, like pearls on a string, alongside stories of women in the Bible. Eventually it came full circle. God's goodness prevails, even when we cannot see the end of the story. We must trust in the greatness of God. "His Will is good and acceptable and perfect."

Robin Jones Gunn is the beloved author of The Christy Miller series, Sierra Jenson series, Christy and Todd's The College Years series, the Katie Weldon series, the Glenbrooke series, the Sisterchicks novels, the destination novels, and more. In her newest book, she tells her story about how God's goodness prevails. It's a powerful story, too, as it tells how God chose to use a little girl's vivid imagination and knack for making up stories as a way to spread His Kingdom here on Earth. She wanted to be a missionary and travel the world, but God had something even better in mind: He sends her books all around the world as missionaries! It's the story of how God took her circumstances, her hopes, her dreams, her relationships, her life, and turned them into something that glorifies Him. If you've read her books, then you'll probably recognize the title of this book. And that is what we all are, Robin says. God chooses to give us grace, even when we neither deserve nor ask for it. In that way, we are a victim, a Victim of Grace. Interspersed throughout her personal story are stories of kindred victims of grace from the Bible that the author identified herself with through different situations. From Eve to Mary, she shares how each were recipients of God's goodness, even when they were caught in the middle of trying circumstances.
Even though I've read a lot of different authors, Robin Jones Gunn remains my favorite. She writes with such a poetic beauty, from her vivid descriptions to her honest observations about the ways of God. I've looked forward to reading this book about her life ever since she first announced it. I had such high expectations for this book_and it exceeded them all. The gorgeous cover is just a sample of the beautiful words penned within the pages of this book. Her story is inspiring, and it is easy to see God's hand in each of her life's circumstances. Even if you're not a writer, you'll be inspired by her story. Personally, the book reminded me that I really am a victim of grace and made me crave a closer walk with the Lord. Her interpretations of Scripture are biblically sound, and her guidance is trustworthy. While reading, I rejoiced at the moments in which events happened in such a way that directly pointed to God's involvement in our daily lives, and I became misty-eyed in the tender, heart-wrenching circumstances in which God faithfully made His closeness known.
This book is a faith-booster. It's inspiring and convicting and intriguing all at once. I loved the chance to peek further into the life of an author who truly writes for Jesus and see the journey He's led her on. I wholeheartedly recommend this book, even if you're not familiar with her fiction. Robin Jones Gunn reminds us that we're all part of a love story; the greatest romance in history. Our Lover relentlessly pursues us and continues to lavish us with His grace. We're not victims of circumstances, but victims of grace. And our circumstances are made beautiful when God's goodness prevails.
Nellie DeeStone Lake, WIAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Victim of Grace is Inspiring and PowerfulJune 2, 2013Nellie DeeStone Lake, WIAge: 55-65Gender: femaleVictim of Grace is a powerful self-portrait of the author's dreams and journey through the uncertainty of her life's difficulties including the loss of those dreams, loss of investments and home. It is interspersed with revelations gleaned from several Biblical heroes as well as how God used their lives to breathe hope into hers. This is the story of how God ultimately fulfilled every one of her dreams.
It was the promise of how God works through our lives in spite of our obstacles, heartaches and difficulties and the hope of being set free to keep dreaming that sucked me in. I had to order the book.
I was very pleased when the book arrived. It was as bright and cheerful on the cover as the author's smiling face on the back. I was ripe for the message contained within its pages.
I objected to the title because I didn't like the word victim. I'm not sure why the choice to use the word was made, but I absolutely loved everything else about this book.
I wept through much of this book as the author's personal experiences paralleled and touched my own heartbreaks. I enjoyed rejoicing with her as things all turned out so miraculously, but not without experiencing some feelings of jealousy.
This book ultimately inspired me and gave me new empowerment through the hope it instilled within my heart to push past the pain and push past the stuck. It also gave me permission to stop striving to fulfill or find my purpose.
This author's writing, wisdom and insight is overwhelmingly brilliant. I will reread this book and highly recommend it to anyone who feels stuck in the gap between the promise and its fulfillment.

God can still accomplish His plans for our hope and a future in the midst of our shattered hopes. In fact, often times it is during these times of heartbreak and trial that we are going through the refiner's fire. We become stronger and if we rely on God during the hard times, He will mold us to become dedicated and vigorous people. Robin Gunn includes accounts of women in the Bible that God used amidst their pain and difficulties. We are all victims of grace from day to day. I would recommend this book to an older age group as a lot of the content focuses on family life and at a younger age I encountered a small challenge of being able to relate. I was expecting a little more from this book in regards to Bible stories re-told in an exciting and innovative.way.
