As parents and grandparents, we are always looking for interactive and engaging ways to teach our children. Our little ones need to be able to see, hear, and touch during the learning process. What they see should be interesting, pretty, colorful, distinctive. What they hear should be the truth, factual, and geared to their age and learning capabilities. And what they touch should be actually "feelable" (my word coining) or involve their actually doing something with an item. Stickers have long been a feelable, "doing something with it," way of teaching - similar to the once used "flannel graph." (I KNOW some of you remember your Sunday School teachers using flannel graph to teach your Sunday School lesson and letting you place the figures up on the board.)

The pictures In My Very First Easter Story are simple and colorful. Not a lot of detail. The stickers (there are lots of them) with places on each page - large and small - and will help to maintain the child's interest in the book and story for days.

I love the added teachable moments on each page. At the bottom of the page where Jesus upset the tables in the Temple and said that the "...Temple was a place where people pray," the question is raised: "Where are these children saying their prayers? With the answers - mealtime, quiet time, bedtime.

Teaching the crucifixion of Christ to a young child is very difficult. How much? How detailed? What to leave out? What to include? In this little book the author has chosen the words: "...he was put to death: nailed to a cross of wood."

At the conclusion of the book there is a recap of "The Story of Jesus." I like this because in block form there are 8 blocks that show His story and a young child can readily learn each phase of the life of Jesus this way and "retell it to himself or another." Another good teachable tool.

DISCLOSURE: I was provided a complimentary copy of My Very First Easter Story by Kegel in exchange for my honest review. Opinions expressed are solely my own.

This sticker book is perfect to put in a child's Easter basket. With so many people wanting to get away from all the holiday candy, this is a great alternative. It also is wonderful reminder of the true meaning of Easter, Christ's death and resurrection.

The book is more than just children's activity sticker books on the market. Its quality and construction is like a regular paperback book.

The story is told on a child's level of understanding. It is great how they got the message across without being wordy. The pictures are colorful and well-illustrated. These are definite positives for keeping a child's attention. With their participation and adding the stickers as you read I believe not only will they listen but the will also retain more.

There are many children's sticker books out there, but this one had several features that definitely made it top of the line. The stickers were also bright and colorful and there was a generous number. I liked how sturdy the stickers are for little hands to handle without tearing. Torn stickers always frustrate my grandchildren.

My favorite thing is because of the quality of the book, it can be a part of the child's permanent reading library. Each time they read it they will be proud that they had a part in "making" it. A very nice book!

I received this book free from Kregel Publications. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

The Easter Story Sticker Book is a step above regular sticker books. Of course, you'll find the stickers (there are about 40 of them) in the center of the book. You'll find the Easter Story beginning with Jesus riding the Donkey into Jerusalem, the overturning of the tables in the Temple Marketplace, the trial and crucifiction of Christ as well as the resurrection and Jesus showing himself to his disciples and the women at the tomb. The only thing I saw missing was the Ascention (the story stops when Jesus tells people to tell everyone they can be friends with God).

But this sticker book takes it 2 steps further - there are 2 pages that show in 8 vinettes the complete story of Jesus from his birth, childhood, healing the sick and explaining that He is now in heaven making a place for those who love him. The last page also has an Easter Prayer.

This is a beautiful book - the story of Easter is told on the top 2/3's of each page and the bottom has interactive questions that you can ask your child to help with comprehension and to get them thinking... (ex: there are 3 pictures and the caption reads: "When are these children saying their prayers?" Mealtime, Quiet Time and Bedtime.)

Sierra and I will truly enjoy this interactive book and I'm sure Connor will be all over it. I'm just waiting for the day he truly understands what Christ did for him and everyone else. =D

This series of books is for children 3 and older due to the small pieces. However there is quite a LOT of text so if your child still has a hard time sitting and listening to a lot of reading and is tough on toys or books I would wait till they get a little older (4 or so) - this book is a parent-child read together type book so you can answer questions and read to them.

Just what our family needed. A book to reinforce the true meaning of Easter, along with a child geared activity.

The boys listened with rapture to the story, they are at an age where they had a lot of questions. Mainly how these people hurt God?

They were also asking how he could be alive? Perfect way to teach our faith, or I should say reinforce. They know this story and know he died for them and their sins.

The boys ages 5 and 7, then had a great time doing the stickers that were included in the book.

I thank Kregel Children's Books for providing me with a copy of this awesome book, and was not required to give a positive review.
