Reviewed by Chloe T. (Chicago, IL), November 07, 2007 Valiant Hope is definitely my favorite book in the Homeland Hero series. It was not only touching, but it had a great conclusion. I was happy that Chris finally got a guy. 5 out of 5 stars
Reviewed by Rel (Melbourne, Australia), April 27, 2006 Fantastic! Valiant Hope is Donna's best book yet. The revelation of Chris McIntyre's past is confronting and so well written her heartache is palpable to the reader. Paramedic Jason Sloan's character is fascinating and his immediate connection with Chris a delight! I could not put this book down. Write a review of Valiant Hope: Homeland Heroes Series #3

Author: Donna Fleisher Located in: Lincoln City, Oregon Submitted: December 08, 2005 What was your motivation behind this project? Endearing my characters to my readers is a huge motivation, but I have to be honest - it's not my deepest hope for my readers. : ) My deepest hope is that all who read this trilogy of stories showing Chris's journey from numbing fear to true faith in Jesus Christ are touched by Him in ways they otherwise could not be touched. In many real and different ways. On each and every page.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? A funny thing happened in the editing process of Wounded Healer, the first book in this series. I originally wrote Chris McIntyre's story as it flowed from my brainpan. But, years later, in that story's editing process, I was finally made aware of just how unwilling Chris was to reveal
herself directly to the reader as her life
played out on the page. Wounded Healer became more about Erin Mathis revealing to the reader what little she could about Chris McIntyre. And in Book Two, Warrior's Heart, with all Chris was facing in her new home and new life, the story became more about Erin's husband, Scott, revealing to the reader what he was learning about Chris as they worked together during the storm. In the pages of Valiant Hope, Chris is forced to face her past and, in the process, she
finally reveals herself to the reader as only she can. For those who have read and enjoyed Chris's story so far as told in books one and two in this series, I'm hoping book three will answer the lingering questions they still have about Chris, and that the answers they discover will further endear this character to them. My deepest hope is that all of these characters
will attach themselves to my readers. That my readers will come away from these stories feeling as if they've gained a few more very special friends to call their own.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: It may take a year or so (sometime in early
2007), but be on the lookout for Book Four in Chris and Erin's story. (And maybe even Books Five and Six not long after that!) I'm so grateful for Zondervan's confidence not only in Chris's story, but in my ability to tell it. May God continue to use us and the work of our hands!
Thank you all, so much, for reading these
stories and for your encouragement along the
way. I pray His best for you! Love to you, His
love, donna
