A practical guide to starting and maintaining a youth ministry in an urban context.
Youth ministry has its own set of unique challenges. Place that youth ministry in the midst of an urban context and it becomes even more complex. In Urban Ministry from Start to Finish, Jeffrey Wallace draws on his wealth of experience and insight to help urban youth ministers thoughtfully and intentionally develop their ministry from the ground up.
The book is divided into two parts. Part 1 addresses the big picture, vision, and foundation. Wallace includes sections such as developing the mission statement and recruiting a solid leadership and volunteer team, as well as how to develop goals, properly manage time, and create a calendar and budget. Part 2 then provides a collection of helpful practical tools that can be adapted or reproduced: permission slips, registration forms, job descriptions for leaders, and even charts explaining basic adolescent development. The included CD-ROM also contains all of these forms plus PowerPoint backgrounds, custom-themed promotional material, and editable posters, postcards, and letters.
Jeffrey has served in local youth ministry for over a decade and brings a fresh and relevant approach to effective and purpose-driven urban youth ministry. He is the President and CEO of Front Line Urban Resources, Inc, which focuses on training and mentoring other urban youth pastors and leaders and providing life-changing youth ministry resources, and founder of Simply Urban Ministry. He also serves as Pastor of Youth Development at Peace Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia.
