SHORT: Great resource that is very relevant to today and easy to use. Little to much advertising for Bluefish in the material for my taste.LONG: I purchased this product as the first study for a new lunchtime group at work. While I have not held the first session yet I have reviewed all the video content and been through the leader's guide and workbook. The messages contained in the 6 sessions and the subjects are very relevant to society today. I do not think there is one person whether unbeliever, new christian or old that could not benefit. The presentation style is engaging. The personal sharing of both McManus and the video segment subjects drive the message home. The nice part about this is it does not come across as you being preached at. Rather it refreshingly takes you by the hand and walks with you. The leader's guide is very well arranged and has excellent comments and suggestions for leading small groups. The workbooks are not an afterthought just put in the box. They work in harmony with the sessions to guide the discussion. They accomplish this by taking the message of the video and guiding you though the biblical references that address it. It creates a harmony of sharing, video and biblical foundations. So with that praise of the series you might as why the 3.5 stars. The only drawback to me was the advertisements peppered through out the material. Each DVD opens with such. The commentator prominently displays a Bluefish job title. At the beginning of each session and end there is an advertisement for Bluefish. Each DVD has a trailer that is an advertisement and another section that contains "other titles" from Bluefish. Finally, the leaders guide and workbooks each contain advertisements in them. I only mention this since for the cost of the course I would not have expected that level. A simply section on 1 DVD promoting bluefish that I could choose to watch or not would have been sufficient and more classy in my opinion.
