Unprotected: A Campus Psychiatrist Reveals How Political Correctness in Her Profession Endangers Every Student

Psychiatrist Miriam Grossman has sounded a wake-up call to her profession and to every parent of a college-aged child attending a secular university. She feels that the students with whom she works in college counseling centers have become "casualties of the radical activism in my profession." She writes out of her frustration at seeing appropriate tools removed from her arsenal to combat forces bent on destroying the mental and emotional health of her students, while their futures are stolen from them without their knowledge or understanding. Grossman says, "My profession has been hijacked. I cannot do my job, my patients are suffering, and I am fed up." Miriam Grossman, MD, has been a psychiatrist at UCLA Student Psychological Services for more than ten years and has worked with students for twenty years. She received her BA from Bryn Mawr College, her medical degree from New York University, and her psychiatric training through Cornell University Medical College. She is board certified in child, adolescent and adult psychiatry.

A wonderful and sobering read! Perfect for parents, teachers and youth workers who desire to get a pulse on current youth and young adult culture. A true tour of life beyond the Church walls. A must read for all youth pastors.

This really is an important book to share with friends, neighbors, colleagues, and especially grown children who are heading off into the world of higher education as they will certainly experience the perspectives and issues addressed in this book. I thought it was so important that I purchased 8 paperback copies and passed them out to colleagues at the public school where I teach. One described it to me as "a real page-turner." She passed the book on to yet another teacher on her team. Get it and read it and pass it on.
