Coleen MBrampton, ONAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Protecting your children requires effortAugust 14, 2012Coleen MBrampton, ONAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Unmask the predators: The Battle to protect your children tells the story of Kalyn Cherry's abuse by a sexual predator. Unmask the predators is a required read for anyone who has or is surrounded by children. The world we live in is dark and parents for too long have been naïve in regard to protecting their children. Although there is a spiritual component to protecting your children, there is also a practical side.
The story of Kalyn's abuse as written by Lisa Cherry and Kalyn herself is very informative. They provided strategies from a Christian perspective on protecting your children from predators, as well as steps to follow if your child is abused. The authors made many noteworthy points such as:
1) Parents should not be ignorant of the signs of sexual abuse.
2) The rebellion seen today in many teenagers is backed by forces of evil and parents need to be informed and know how to respond.
3) Teenagers are still children, although it seems otherwise in this sexualized culture. Teenagers still need their parents' protection.
4) Parents have to be on guard at all times while protecting their children. It's a hard job, which requires effort. Nowhere is safe including the church.
Lisa Cherry provided a time-line leading to the discovery of her daughter's sexually abuse. This time-line is crucial for parents. They should become familiar with it. Chapter 12 titled ‘Twenty six keys for protecting your child from sexual predators' is invaluable. These keys should be implemented in every family.
The publisher has provided me with a complimentary e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review of this book
richard r blakeBridgman, MIAge: Over 65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Familes at Risk - The Attack of PredatorsJune 16, 2012richard r blakeBridgman, MIAge: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Lisa Cherry writes from a mother's perspective as she tells of the devastation when it was confirmed that their fifteen year old daughter, Kalyn, had fallen victim to a forty-six year old predator. She tells of the pain of guilt, regret, and anger she experienced. She writes from the deepest desperation of her soul.
Kalyn candidly tells her story of the emotional roller coaster she experienced. Her pain took the form of rebellion, depression, dysfunctional relationships, eating disorders, and self-mutilation.
The format and content of the material is instructional, well organized, and practical. The book is filled with strategies and tactics aimed at helping the reader build a plan for dealing with Satan's deception, the place of parental authority, and for engaging in spiritual battle.
The chapter titled "Twenty-Six Keys for Protecting Your Child from Sexual Predators" is especially important for parents. The points to ponder at the end of the chapters also provide important reinforcement to the material covered in the text. These points also open the possibility for use as a group discussion guide within the context of information meetings or in a support group setting.
"Unmask the Predators" is highly endorsed by Christian leaders, pastors, educators, and parents earnestly seeking to protect families from the influence and attack of evil predatory forces. Must reading for every parent.
A complimentary copy of this book was provided for review purposes. The opinions expressed are my own.
WisdomsTruthLakeland,FlAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great Resource for today's parentsJune 10, 2012WisdomsTruthLakeland,FlAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Never let it be said that this generation has not seen war. They see war every day of their lives. Just as the wars of the nations have changed so have the war games for our children's soul. They walk in a war zone we can not comprehend, the war for control of their spirit is increasingly becoming more deceptive. This book unveils one of the many new weapons used by the enemy to destroy families and individuals. Praise God for His grace and revelation of the weapons we should use in this battle to save our families. The Cherry's have brought a much needed practical approach that can be used for this predator and many other areas of raising a child. I would recommend it to be apart of every  parents resource library. The declarations Lisa added at the end alone are treasures.  This review  was made possible based on a free ebook that was given to me by the publisher.Â
