God’s power and love have no limits. So why do Christians put limits on their relationship with Him? We could be pursuing greater knowledge, experiencing deeper intimacy, and abiding in freer joy… and yet we routinely settle for mediocrity in our spiritual lives.
But if you are ready to explode your self-imposed limits, Dr. Richard Blackaby can guide you through powerful and passionate insights revealed in this new book.
By contrasting mediocrity with the spirituality of the great “heroes of the faith,” Dr. Blackaby shows you that you need not settle for less than God intends for you. God can do extraordinary things through ordinary people like you…but only when you allow Him to enlarge your spiritual capacity and overcome your self-imposed limits.
“I hope this book inspires you to aim for a new level of walking with God. I want you to reach heights in your spiritual life that you never dreamed were possible, to experience God working through your life in a powerful new dimension, to hear words from God that will dramatically change your life and your world. I want to help you blow past any limitations you have set for yourself in your Christian life.” —Dr. Richard Blackaby

According to Blackaby, as we mature in our Christian walk, we sometimes lose the excitement of our original encounter. We become less committed to Bible study and prayer, and if we allow it, distractions can creep in and crowd out our zeal for God and the work He wants to accomplish through us. Over time, we hear Gods voice less and less, and we wonder why He reveals himself to others and not to us.
Obviously, the problem isnt God. As Blackaby says, If we have a shallow walk with God, we cannot expect to receive deep revelations from Him.
Blackaby points out that when we are unwilling to commit ourselves wholeheartedly to our relationship with the Lord, we limit Gods work in us, and we place restrictions on the amount of service we are able accomplish. God knows our potential, and He wants to use our circumstances to develop our faith and increase our capacity to serve Him, but we must surrender and do whatever it takes to draw closer to Him.
We also limit God when we limit what we believe God can or will do in our lives. When answers to our prayers dont come in the time or way we think they should, we stop prayingand we stop believingbecause we fail to realize that God allows troubles and difficulties so that we will become more mature, trusting believers. Instead of embracing the work God is doing through our troubles, we entertain doubt and place limitations on what God can do for and through us.
Blackaby came to realize in his own life, The limit to my experience of Gods power rested not with God, but with me. His power is limitless; my faith is still growing.
Unlimiting God examines the truths from scripture about how to remove the limits we place on God and ourselves. It discusses topics such as hearing Gods voice, allowing God to work through us, knowing God, experiencing Gods power in our lives, experiencing joy, and overcoming our own spiritual limits.
I recommend this book to all believers. It challenges us to consider our level of commitment, and it challenges the Church to embrace change in order to reach a lost and dying world for Christ. - Nancy Brown, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com

“Richard Blackaby blends self-deprecating humor, flashes of introspection, and theological truth as he leads us to a fresh understanding of the power of God. The message is relevant, challenging, and inspirational.”

When we do this, we limit the impact these things can have in our lives. Unfortunately, we often do the same thing with God. We put limits on what we think he can do and we limit our relationship with Him.
Rather than settling for mediocrity, the author suggests we pursue greater knowledge, intimacy and joy. When we do this we may find answers to questions common to Christians.
Richard Blackaby is the sole author of this book and he seems to want to show that he can stand outside the shadow of his famous father, Henry. While the writing is not quite to the level of his father, there is still much to be gleaned from this book.
Les5 Stars Out Of 5January 15, 2010LesThis book was excellent. I was so excited by this book that I followed it up by leading a book study on it. More than 20 people participated and the Spirit touched everyone's heart. If you are looking to get in touch with the Holy Spirit and seriously look at how you are currently living then I can't recommend a better book.
brian1 Stars Out Of 5December 7, 2009brianMaybe it is just me, but I get very little out of anything the Blackaby's write. I am sure they are godly men, striving to help the body of Christ - I just don't find much help in their writing. This is no exception. There was very little practical application. I came away thinking, "Ok, I learn a little (very little) but Mr. Blackaby, what should I do with this insight?" The book gave me nothing.
Jeff Shaferly5 Stars Out Of 5June 24, 2008Jeff ShaferlyBook worth reading. It has helped me to understand why believers (me) fail to reach their potential in many areas of their lives. God's love for us is so great that he will not allow our growth to surpass our character even when we have the skills to do so.
