While I havenâÂÂt read the Unglued book, its âÂÂaccompanyingâ devotional Unglued is a wonderfully uplifting book itself. It is something that I could read straight through, not waiting for each dayâÂÂs installment. Lysa Terkeurst becomes a trusted friend, one you know can honestly commiserate with you. There is a depth of honesty that is so refreshing and, frankly, inspiring. Not only does she share her own mommy woes with her readers, but the way she shares her coping mechanisms, self-talk, and prayer, feels almost like a kind of âÂÂletter to my daughterâ written to us by a Proverbs 31 woman to the younger generationâÂÂand sheâÂÂs not that much older than I! Well, we certainly appreciate it. Her snippets pack a powerful punch while keeping it brief enough that we can enjoy her words of wisdom during a harried breakfast with the kids before school then continue to ponder the memory verse and/or thought for the day throughout our day. She is able to both convict and comfort, giving us perspective and purposeâÂÂeven as we are struggling to become better guardians for GodâÂÂs precious charges, we are being molded more and more into His image as well. This is a book I will cherish for some time to come. I look forward to passing it along to my own daughter when she embarks on her own journey of motherhood many years from now.

There are many things in daily life that effect our emotions as women. Each of us handle them in different ways but I think we can all say that at some pointed we have reacted in a way that saddens our hearts. Lysa's devotional, Unglued Devotional, 60 Days of Imperfect Progress, is a daily devotional that addresses our emotions and reactions with truth and honesty from the scripture as well as with compassion, humor and encouragement.

I like to start my day with a quiet time that includes cup of something warm along with a reading of a daily devotional. In Unglued the author gives plenty of personal experience and turns it into practical advice that is thought provoking and relatable. Easy to read, enjoy and learn from without being preachy. This is a devotional that I will reach for again.
