Great concise scholarship written in an easily understood way. This controversial subject is made much more accessible via this excellent resource. Highly recommended. August 5, 2009

This book is written at the high school level and is therefore quite readable, although it doesn't flow like a typical novel. For the level of scholarship included, its readability is outstanding. (It lost 0.5 "books" in my vote for the reading level.)The analysis of 1 Cor 12-14 includes not only a thorough explanation of the Greek behind the text, but also incorporates the context by revealing the parallels in the passage plus the historical settings that Paul wrote to.This book will challenge your understanding of numerous spiritual gifts as well as your view of your local congregation and its needs. If you attend a local church that practices "sign gifts" or takes a strong position on these gifts, you need to read this book. (If your local church does neither, you might read this book and then challenge your church leaders to be more responsive to God's Word!) October 4, 2000
