Bought this book for our pastor on a suggestion by our daughter who read it. He really enjoyed the info from a pastors point of view.

This is a MUST read for all pastors and those who want to understand the demands of pastoral call and vocation! I am in the 4th year of my call into ordained ministry and found this book to be rich on so many levels. The sad reality is that I've already noticed that many pastors-like any job-become consumer-centered and lose their touch with being Spirit-centered. Once called to a HOLY vocation their time and energies become worldly in focus and lose all their salt. All too many pastors also become denominational puppets and or servants to the loudest voices in their congregations; both need to be avoided...and Peterson discusses at length how to do this. Most enjoyable in its honesty and thought provoking approach to something as complex as one's call to ministry, I truly gained MUCH from reading this book! Finally, i read this book during a hospital stay for my two month old daughter...we are home now...thanks be to God BUT it was ever so appropriate to read about the "storms of life" and be in the middle of one at the same time.

This is a must read for all pastors. It is a great call to vocational holiness. It has changed how I look at ministry and am challenged to be a better pastor and to seek God more in my life.
