Chloe Ledet's larger-than-life father, the famous New Orleans restaurateur Chef Julien, seems invincible---until he's shot under suspicious circumstances. What Secrets Can Be Found by the Light of the Cajun Moon?
New Orleans may be the “Big Easy,” but nothing about it was ever easy for international business etiquette expert Chloe Ledet. She moved away years ago, leaving her parents and their famous French Quarter restaurant behind. But when she hears that her father has been shot, she races home to be by his side and to handle his affairs—only to learn a long-hidden secret that changes everything she knew to be true about herself and her family.
Framed for murder, Chloe and a handsome Cajun stranger must search for a priceless treasure, one whose roots weave through the very history of Louisiana itself. But can Chloe depend on the mysterious man leading her on this cat-and-mouse chase into the heart of Cajun country? Or by trusting him, has she gone from the frying pan into the fire?
Following up on her bestselling Gothic thriller, Whispers of the Bayou, and Amish romantic suspense, Shadows of Lancaster County, Mindy Starns Clark offers another exciting standalone novel, one full of Cajun mystery, hidden dangers, and the glow of God’s unending grace.
Clark (Smart Chick mysteries) has cooked up a delicious recipe of intrigue, romance and intelligent character development. Clark, a former comedian, offers her ever-growing fan base equal measures of sharp wit and sassy comebacks through her protagonist, Chloe Ledet, daughter of famous New Orleans restaurateur Chef Julian. When Chloe is summoned back home after an accident hospitalizes her father, she re-enters the scene to conduct business for her dad and gets framed for murder Cajun-style. In quick fashion, Chloe must clear her name with the aid of a childhood beau as she wades through the literal bayous of the South and emotional swamps of old, unresolved childhood issues involving her distracted and distant parents. Clark's story line is full of spice and lingers with an unexpected bite familiar to Cajun cuisine lovers. This text is sumptuous. (Sept.) Copyright 2009 Reed Business Information.

I really enjoy this author. The story was exciting and interesting. I liked the information on the culture in that part of the country. The parallel history was also interesting.

The author has done it again. She drops the reader into a fresh locale -- New Orleans -- and completely had me there. And it had a different feel to other books I've read set in that locale. Chloe Ledet is called home to New Orleans after her father is shot in a remote bayou area. The next morning she finds herself smack in the middle of a murder scene -- with no memory of what happened. Then that murder leads to another murder and Chloe is running to find answers and stay alive. Fortunately, she isn't alone. She has a Cajun friend to help her find more than the truth.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book -- and the clash of cultures. The book had high tension, but also moments of humor that kept the mood from getting to dark and heavy. And there was more than just a mystery to solve. Romance, family conflict and more.

This was a great read, as is any of this author's books. It was a little different than her other works, but kept you wanting to keep reading.

I thought this book started out to slow. I did not like going back and forth from two different rime periods. The author writes good mysteries but this was not one.

This author fascinates me. This is my second book of hers, both in the Louisiana setting. Ms Clark keeps me magnetized to her pages, particularly in the way she weaves the historical novel in with a current day novel; brilliant! Since I have lived in Louisiana my entire life, I enjoy her vivid descriptions of the locale, weather, nature, just everything. The mystery of this novel is spell binding!
