Contrary to popular belief, we do not have to be perfect to do God's work. Look no further than the twelve disciples whose many weaknesses are forever preserved throughout the pages of the New Testament. Jesus chose ordinary men - fisherman, tax collectors, political zealots - and turned their weakness into strength, producing greatness from utter uselessness. Join John MacArthur as he draws principles from Christ's careful, hands-on training of the original twelve disciples for today's modern disciple - you!

This books gives such insight into the personalities of the apostles. It shows how Jesus molded very imperfect men into powerful men of God and shows us that now matter what faults we have, they can be used for His glory.

Instead of reading the book I enjoyed the audio book instead. I was so captured by the lives of the 12 , that I suggested to my cell group that we use this I our weekly group meetings. We all thoroughly enjoyed learning about these 12 amazing men. The thing that really struck us was how Jesus used ordinary men some of dubious character to be the foundation of His Church. Highly recommended.

This is a great book explaining in detail the men that Jesus chose and taught to be the best messengers of the word, known to man. Jesus only had about 1 1/2 years to train these men to carry on christianity as we know it today what a great job he did with such ordinary men.

This is an amazing book. It is well written and draws a picture of the transformation of these 12 men in such a way that no one can doubt the power of Jesus. When you read about one life, you can't wait to read about the next one.
