Chris4 Stars Out Of 5They were really ordinary!March 5, 2015ChrisQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4We ordered this book for a noon Bible study at our church because we had already used the author's book TWELVE EXTRAORDINARY WOMEN, and had thoroughly enjoyed it. The author knows his church history and has well researched each of the people about whom he writes. Our group relishes the time we have together studying about these people who were closest to Jesus. We recommend it for group studies who have a leader to promote discussion, as it does not have questions included.
Alan5 Stars Out Of 5An Insight into the ApostlesMarch 2, 2015AlanQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5John uses insights gathered from both scripture and other historical documents to help us paint a picture of each of these rather ordinary men. We begin to see ourselves in each of these everyday men who Jesus chose to use in extraordinary ways. We have used the book for a small group, and everyone has said how they better comprehend those scriptures and it has given real life and personality to each of the disciples. The book makes you slow down and truly contemplate the time and events and how Jesus was able to capitalize on each of these mens strengths and weaknesses.
The book delivered far more than I had expected.

CLaW5 Stars Out Of 5AstonishingJanuary 12, 2015CLaWQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5If you want to get an inside look at who Jesus chose to spread Christianity to the world, look no further. Dr. MacArthur does a great job at pulling out the ordinary characteristics of the extraordinary work Jesus did with these common, earthly minded men. If you have doubts, or have had doubts, how God could use you to further His kingdom, those thoughts will change after reading this book. This book was used in my Men's Bible study and it fell nothing short of amazingly insightful. Thank you John MacArthur!!
I would recommend this to all believers and doubters.
