Product Description

Contrary to popular belief, we do not have to be perfect to do God's work. Look no further than the twelve disciples whose many weaknesses are forever preserved throughout the pages of the New Testament. Jesus chose ordinary men - fisherman, tax collectors, political zealots - and turned their weakness into strength, producing greatness from utter uselessness. Join John MacArthur as he draws principles from Christ's careful, hands-on training of the original twelve disciples for today's modern disciple - you!

This was an AMAZING book, totally blew me away !!! Getting to know the Disciples better. Its a really in depth look at the Disciples and their PERFECT TEACHER / LEADER. How they started out as a bunch of Nobodies and became GREAT teachers and leaders themselves !!!

I really enjoyed this book because it showed the human and ordinary side of the apostles. The author does a wonderful job of explaining each apostle and their unique personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. I would highly recommend the book to anyone who wants a more in-depth view of the apostles and their time with Jesus and beyond.

We ordered this book for a noon Bible study at our church because we had already used the author's book TWELVE EXTRAORDINARY WOMEN, and had thoroughly enjoyed it. The author knows his church history and has well researched each of the people about whom he writes. Our group relishes the time we have together studying about these people who were closest to Jesus. We recommend it for group studies who have a leader to promote discussion, as it does not have questions included.

John uses insights gathered from both scripture and other historical documents to help us paint a picture of each of these rather ordinary men. We begin to see ourselves in each of these everyday men who Jesus chose to use in extraordinary ways. We have used the book for a small group, and everyone has said how they better comprehend those scriptures and it has given real life and personality to each of the disciples. The book makes you slow down and truly contemplate the time and events and how Jesus was able to capitalize on each of these mens strengths and weaknesses.

The book delivered far more than I had expected.
