Product Description

Tulip is a popular acronym for the five points of Calvinism - total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, and perseverance of the saints. In this book, these five points are not only concisely explained in the light of the Bible but are also helpfully contrasted to the corresponding five points of Arminianism. The differences between Calvinistic and Arminianism beliefs are also summarized at the end of the book for quick reference. Anyone looking for an accessible explanation of this somewhat difficult and controversial doctrine, or looking for help in explaining it to others, will find this an invaluable resource. Tulip has had steady sales since its original Baker publication in 1979, and there are now nearly 55,000 copies in print.

I found this book to be one of the best in regards to expressing in simplicity the doctrines of sovereign grace. Many wish to call that view a Calvinistic view but as this book shows it is in fact a biblical view. Calvin simply expressed what the scriptures already said. This book is short and does an excellent job at comparing the different views of salvation. I'm amazed what the author could accomplish in such a short limited number of pages. I have several of these on my shelf and like to hand them out for the person who has questions on this subject knowing that I am giving them a trustworthy book. Loved it.

This book clearly reveals the major differences between Arminianism and Calvinism. The reader will discover how our churches have embraced the Arminian doctrine. To simplify: Arminianism is more man centered and Calvinism is more God and Scripture centered. This book is a real eye-opener to the seeking heart.

I found the first edition of this book on an old dusty shelf of a christian book store sixteen years ago while still a student in high school, and it changed my life. If you would like solid 'nutshell' information on the doctrines of Grace, then this book is a must read!

This book is excellent at defending the truth of Calvinism. It also helped me to understand why Arminianism is not biblical.

Spencer does an excellent job of presenting the scriptural reasons for Calvinism with citations but is not balanced in his approach as the reviewers claimed. His commentary is sarcastic at times toward other views. I purchased multiple copies of this book for a bible study seeking to explore the differences from an unbiased source. The groupo was disappointed.
