The best spiritual dating book for teens yet. If you want to follow Christ' will for you. I believe you should read this book.

I have read the majority of books that are on the market both for and against Christians dating. I have been most impressed by "Am I the One?" by James R. Lucas. As a young person, it has forced me to evaluate my motives in pursuing relationships while encouraging the reader to seek God's will. We know God is faithful and we need to have a realistic picture of marriage. I encourage people to read this book and underline and mark it up as you read through it and look back upon it as you get closer and closer to marriage.

Tell us a little about yourself. This book is my eleventh book. One of my favorites is a novel, A Perfect Persecution, that talks about a young woman's heroic work on behalf of some very helpless people. I wanted it to be dramatic and scary, and to deal with things that are very wrong with our society. Many people have read the Left Behind series, but this book talks about what you can do for God in a big way while you are still left behind.
What was your motivation behind this project? I've seen too many people wade into relationships and get wiped out. I didn't see much out there to really help people make decisions based on biblical principles that are also authentic and real-world. I want there to be happier relationships, better marriages, and less regrets. And I want people to really know how to love and be loved.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? If people get to understand themselves better, to know what is driving them, and to see who are people are and what is driving them, I think we'd call it a success. For readers to say, "That book made me think" or "that book helped me avoid a disaster" or "that book helped me see what real relationship is all about" - that would be the mountaintop.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I especially enjoy authors and artists who are willing to think out of the box, challenge the standard thinking on a subject, and provocatively address the subject in a way that makes me think about it fresh and alive. Dallas Willard, Richard Foster, Paul Johnson, and Michael Card are just a few of my favorites.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Too many books either focus on a set of rules and restrictions instead of principles to live by, or focus on the other person and miss the focus on what we're doing to develop ourselves, or push marriage as this big wonderful thing and don't talk straight about the real pitfalls. I've learned that most people want real truth in a no- baloney way, and that they are smart enough to make good decisions if they have some decent help in thinking about them. I wrote this book to provide that friendly input to anyone who wants to know how to navigate the rough waters of real relationships. For parents who want to talk straight with their teenagers and older singles, I wanted to write a book that could speak for them in a way that would make sense, and hopefully create a forum where parent and son or daughter could really talk.
