Product DescriptionThey are everywhere - and they're trying to get you! They can affect your mind, make you do things that you don't want to do, and take your eyes off of God. What are they, and how can they have such an impact on your life?
They are not ghosts or spirits of the dead; the true threat is the medium, the psychic, or whatever name the charlatan has assumed. Ron Rhodes knows this very well, and he draws back the curtains on this ancient and modern deception. Showing the reality of all manner of psychic activity in modern culture, Rhodes encourages the believer with solid, biblical facts and research. Product Information

Ron Rhodes, respected and popular biblical scholar, tackles the truth about ghosts and those who say they communicate with them and answers the questions:
This reader–friendly presentation of intriguing facts and biblical insights will help Christians know how to respond to this fascination with the ultimate truth. ChristianBookPreviews.comHow do you counterattack the supernatural bombardment our modern world undergoes? The Truth Behind Ghosts, Mediums & Psychic Phenomena provides the reader with ample, relevant warnings and ammunition. Opening with dramatized examples of people who have sought psychic help, this book gives lucid accounts of the various types of psychic information flooding our lives, from TV shows like Ghost Whisperer and movies like The Sixth Sense to paranormal education courses in local schools; from psychic fairs and retreats to occult board games like Bloody Mary.
Rhodes then discusses modern roots and causes of the contemporary move towards a theology of the spirits. A primer on types of psychic phenomena adds to readers’ understanding of relevant terms from more commonly known ones, such as occultism and divination, to lesser known such as psychometry, clairaudience and clairalience. Building on this background, Rhodes delves into the truth behind it all. Firmly founded on Bible passages, the whole subject area is brought under the research microscope, looking at the frauds and how they are perpetrated, as well as the gullibility of the audience, and manipulation by demons. An interesting section compares the psychic view and the Christian view of the Bible, Christ, God, humanity, and sin and salvation. A final chapter encourages Christians to look to the Lord and not to psychics, with a special warning against those claiming affiliation with Christianity. The Truth Behind Ghosts, Mediums & Psychic Phenomena provides important reading for Christians, and makes a useful reference book for your Bible study bookshelf. A timely dissertation, this volume clearly and succinctly presents a large amount of important information. With its opening examples of people seeking psychic help, Rhodes will catch the interest of and help those who lean towards the occult. Author of the book Answering the Objections of Atheists, Agnostics, and Skeptics, and president of Reasoning from the Scriptures Ministries, Ron Rhodes brings much expertise to this subject. He takes research very seriously, referring to it throughout this volume, and listing it in a closing section of text notes. – Donna Eggett, Christian Book Previews.com Customer ReviewsAverage Rating:
7 of 7 Reviews Showing: Reviewed by Kandi Sousa (Modesto, CA), June 01, 2010After a loved one told me they believed they were psyphic I needed to read a book that could get me started in learning what the bible says about that kind of spiritual world. Mr Rhodes not only explains in detail what a psyphic world believes but gives many bible verses to back it up. I am more confident now, after reading this book, that I will be able to talk my loved one through to victory. Reviewed by Donna Baboolal (new york), March 31, 2010This is the Narrow Minded Fundamentalist Christian's View of it. Ghosts Are Real, Spirits are Real, the Dead can talk to us. Too many people have had experiences that you cannot discredit all of them, and say that they are all demonic, imaginary, or not real. I respect everyones opinion and belief, but this view gives us no hope of being connected to our Loved ones, or ever seeing them again. As what this states is when you are dead you are dead thats it, until Judgemet time. I would hope and pray that this version is not true, because it will be one Sorry day for us all. I cannot speak for anyone but i myself want to be reunited with my Parents again in the after-life. And this books offers No Hope of such a reunion. Reviewed by Jackie Nieto (Naperville, IL), August 14, 2009I love this book. It really answered a lot of questions I had and it went into full detail about Ghosts etc. that the world believes in. I recommend this book every time for those who have questions about the supernatural. Reviewed by Natalie Morgan (New Castle IN), October 09, 2008This is an "easy read" book that will answer all the questions you have about the subject. I couldn't put it down! I'm buying copies for all my friends who are being seduced into this area! If you want to serve God you want to be knowledgeable. Read this book!!!! Don't be deceived! That's not your great granny visiting you from the grave!!! Reviewed by Janine Skoniecki (Turner, ME), September 28, 2008Easy to read lots of facts my friends are reading the book even though the book is falling apart, great book. Reviewed by Ken Coughlan (Havre de Grace, MD), June 27, 2008Overall, this book gets my thumbs up. It contains a lot of very good information. Ron Rhodes' conclusions probably won't surprise anyone who has looked into this subject in the past, but for those in our pews who haven't really thought about what God has to say about these practices, and have simply been swept up in the cultural movement of the occult, the information should make them think. My only real beef about the book is that the important information probably could have been written in 50 pages instead of 144. Mr. Rhodes repeats himself, a lot. I understand saying something then saying it again to make sure it sinks in, but sometimes in this book he seems to visit, then revisit, then revisit the same idea over and over again. The reader may feel like screaming, "All right, I'v got it already!" I worry about some readers putting it down halfway through because they start to feel like they are not hearing any new information. Once you sift through the repetition, there are some very good informational tidbits in there. You just have to bear with Mr. Rhodes for a while until he gets to them. Reviewed by Amy (Sturtevant, WI), January 28, 2008This is such a great resource! I bought it for my 13 year-old nephew who is into ghosts and ghost hunters. I decided to read it myself so I could get an idea if it would help him understand. It was very straightforward and made everything so much easier to understand. He even has a "dictionary" of sorts of psychic terms and what they mean. I would recommend it to everyone.
