"Trusting the Shepherd" is a devotional study of Psalm 23 that is 13 sections/chapters long. Each short devotional (about 6 pages long) gave background information to the verse to help us understand how the original audience would have understood the words and then tied that into our walk with God today. The author pointed out some things that I've found to be very true but I don't hear talked about by preachers or in books, and I appreciated that. I'd highly recommend using this as a devotional.
I Love this Book. This is the third copy I have purchased. I love to give this book for a gift. I first heard Haddon Robbinson speak on the topic during a radio broadcast of Discover the Word. I was fascinated by the discussion of The Lord as our shepherd as written from the view point of David in Psalm 23. David, a shepherd himself as a boy, had a keen understanding of the responsibility and love of the shepherd ... as well as the dependency and trust of the sheep to their shepherd. This book is beautifully written, highly readable. I find myself conjuring up the images that Haddon Robbinson paints for each verse as I recite this beautiful song. I Highly Recommend it.
Trusting the Shepherd gives such a wonderful insight on what sheep means to the Shepherd and how important they are. What a shepherd does for His sheep and why. For a city girl and not knowing what is all involved in caring for sheep it really shines a new light on the Psalms 23 passage. I thank God that he loves and cares for us as tenderly and passionately as discribed in this book. A blessed and easy read.
