Catchy title but the words "Evan When Life Hurts" provides the idea of a personnel encounter.

This book is insightful and helpful and is a good addition to a library used for teaching and discipleship as well as counseling. This book has impacted my life and those close to me. It's not that the books gives anything new but it does remind us of the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and provides another affirmation of the fact that God is in Control.
This book is by far the best I have ever read about trials, suffering and grief. Jerry Bridges teaches biblically from his own place of suffering and ministers to other sufferers in a gentle, loving and practical way. My husband and I led study groups using this book for many years, and were ministered to immeasurably ourselves by it in the loss of our son. As a certified biblical counselor, I recommend this book to every sufferer with whom I come in contact as a wonderful means of ministering God's sovereignty to hurting hearts.
I purchase books for each of my small group members. We are close to half way through it and each member has said it has impacted them greatly. This book touches all aspects of our lives, drawing our attention that we tend to be dependent on ourselves too often, and shows us the need to trust in God. This is a great book.
Dr. Bridges did an outstanding job relating why we should trust God in every situation that comes us in life. I would recommend it to anyone seeking answers to why saints suffer and how to honor God in our suffering.
This book gives one of the best explanations of God's sovereignty that I have ever read. It is such a good book that we will buy a copy for all of our teen children and go through it during our family devotions. This is good for everyone even if you are not going through difficulty right now. It can help you to counsel and encourage those who are suffering and the things you learn will help you in your own future sufferings. Get this book!
