We live in a time when people are asking difficult questions. Questions about faith, belief, spiritual practice, the relevancy of the church in culture; and the validity of the Bible in an era when very few professing Christians actually know what the scripture has to say beyond what they hear on Sunday morning being taught from the pulpit.A time when the very authority of God is questioned. In God We Trust: Why Biblical Authority Matters for Every Believer by Steve Ham (Senior Director of Outreach for Answers in Genesis) seeks to provide an answer to some of those questions and point Christians to the foundation of their faith.I really appreciate Steve Ham's dedication to equipping Christians with the truth and this book is an excellent resource. In God We Trust is thorough and in a easy to understand manner lays out for the Christian believer the reasons why we can trust the Bible as the authoritative and infallible word of Godand why it's necessary to understand that truth. In the book, Ham contrasts the difference between a secular and biblical view, and how we are influenced by the way we see the world. He examines the genuine authority of God through an in-depth look at the Trinity and how we can be undermined in faith and witness as Christians by counterfeit authorities. Ham also points to how biblical authority informs our lives through how we worship, relate to world and the church, defines the structure and function of the family, etc. This book is an important one and should be on every sincere Christian's reading list. Understanding the importance of the Bible in the life of the believer is key to standing firm in our faith. If you've ever had a question about the authenticity or authority of the Bible, In God We Trust by Steve Ham is a "must-read". If you give this book a thoughtful and thorough examination I'm sure you'll agree and recommend it to every Christian you know.
"In God We Trust" is a mix of Christian Living, theology, and apologetics. It basically says that we have every reason to believe that the Bible is the authoritative and accurate Word of God, so we need to use it to interpret what we see around us rather than using what we see around us to interpret "what the Bible really means." By accepting Biblical authority, our whole way of living will change because we know with assurance what God wants from us and has promised us. The author wrote in a somewhat formal tone, but it was still easy to understand his points. The author used Scripture to make his points. I'd highly recommend this book to all Christians, especially pastors and teachers (both for youth and adult). I received this book as a review copy from the publisher.
