Sarah5 Stars Out Of 5An inspiring, God-honoring book for anyone !January 13, 2011SarahQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I originally read this book right after the first National Bible Bee held in 2009. This book has inspired me from the very first to study God's word and truly live for Him. A Trophy in My Heart is excellently written and is full of wonderful and encouraging scriptures.
This book is also a wonderful source to anyone aspiring to compete in the Bible Bee this year; It is full of studying tips and practical insights. Learn how the different stages of the Bible Bee work, plus at the end of the book, you can read all about the author's journey through the first Bible Bee. Brittany memorized 1,880 verses that had to be word perfect , and had to study five books of the Bible for the first Bee.
2009 National Bible Bee 4th place winner and 2010 2nd place winner, Brittany Schlichter has written a wonderful and encouraging book for anyone of any age, wether you're aspiring to compete or simply just looking for an encouraging and Christ honoring book to read, this book will inspire you to live for the Lord.
Sharon5 Stars Out Of 5September 16, 2010SharonIf you have lost (or are losing) faith in today's generation; I challenge you to read this book by a 13 year old girl who had just memorized 1,880 Bible verses ('word perfect'- NO Credit for 'almost', 'got the essence', etc.). Although she modestly refers to the trophy being, "In my heart"; many observers thought that she actually won First Place, when simply judged by the published rules. At any rate, her lack of rancor speaks volumes about her upbinging and character - considering that First Place included a $50,000 college scholarship. All of this in one so young, has to give us renewed hope for the future.
Sharon5 Stars Out Of 5September 14, 2010SharonThis book will be an encouragement to anyone studying God's Word. Even if you are not familiar with the National Bible Bee you will enjoy this book. This would be a great book for grandparents or parents to buy for their grandchildren or children. Brittany is an amazing young lady whose love for God will inspire anyone who reads her book.

Tell us a little about yourself. I recently turned fourteen years old and live with a rather large family that consists of my parents, seven siblings, and another baby to join us in December. Five months ago, I competed in the first-ever National Bible Bee and came in 4th place in the nation. To achieve this, I extensively studied several books of the Bible and memorized 1,880 Bible verses in a six-month time span. Besides reading and memorizing God's Word, I enjoy writing, singing, classical music, and spending time with my family.
What was your motivation behind this project? Competing in the National Bible Bee was a great experience for me, and I gained much by memorizing so many verses! After studying on a national scale, I realized even more fully that knowing God's Word is the most crucial step to living a life that brings glory to Him! This realization motivated me to write a book that could challenge other believers to invest in God's Word as well. Furthermore, I hoped to spread the word about such a God-honoring competition.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? My book is based on the Bible Bee motto--Learn it! Speak it! Live it!--and while writing it, I endeavored to encourage Christians of all ages to learn, speak, and live out the Word of God in their daily lives. Although I do include my personal Bible Bee journey, this book isn't merely about my Bible Bee story, nor is it limited to Bible Bee contestants alone. In Psalm 85:6, the psalmist asks God: "Wilt Thou not revive us again: that Thy people may rejoice in Thee?" In the twenty-first century, our culture is in desperate need of revival. And a revival of enormous proportions--a revival of God's Word, when Christians begin learning and obeying the Scriptures--can begin, when the Bible is heard and heeded among the people of God. My desire is that this book will challenge all Christians to make an eternal investment in God's Word, arming themselves to live godly lives in an ungodly culture by loving and serving Christ. The overriding objective of A Trophy in My Heart is to excite believers of all ages about God's Word! My prayer is that it will inspire its readers to treasure God's Word as a trophy in their heart.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My parents have always been a great influence in my life. I am especially grateful for their choice to homeschool my siblings and me as I believe that being home educated has given me the opportunity to broaden my horizons and to learn in a godly, character-building environment! My family and many godly friends and role models have all impacted my life, as have countless Christian books and magazines. The greatest influence in my life, however, has been God's Word. "For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."--Hebrews 4:12 The Bible wields the greatest potency to conform us to the image of Christ, and God's working in my own life is even more significant when I spend quality time immersed in His Word!
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: This book was definitely all the Lord's doing. To God be the glory, great things He has done! "The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad."--Psalm 126:3
