Publisher's Description

In the Old Testament you could spot idolatry quickly, and throwing an idol into the fire or knocking over a stone altar seemed to be an easy solution. What about today? Are idols just a part of the Old Testament past or of an Indiana Jones adventure? In You Are the Treasure That I Seek, Pastor Greg Dutcher takes a new look at an old problem with witty and relevant insights to help you identify idolatry in this modern world. What captures and holds your attention? Discover the true treasure that you seek: the incomparable beauty of Christ. You'll find questions at the end of each chapter, making this a great book for individual or group use.

This book is about how often we put others and things before our relationship with Christ. The book offers some great insight for creating a healthy relationship with the world and therefore our Lord.

The author uses thoughtful quotes to help emphasize the principle he is teaching. There were plenty of examples and verses to help you understand how idolatry can overtake your life. I liked how the authors' sense of humor shone through during some of his stories. The study questions were helpful and gave you a chance to study some scripture and principles on your own.

I gave this book 4/5 stars. The layout was easy to follow and the book itself was easy to understand. I did find parts of the book to drag along. That said if you feel like you could use a reminder of how important putting Christ first in your life is, this book will be a great read.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

As I read the examples Mr. Dutcher gave of modern day idols, I was astonished to find I had more than one God. I agree, there is a lot of cool stuff out there. However, when I think of what Christ did to set me free, I am more than willing to let those other gods go.
